ParticipantHello,
I bought a new RS21 1st July 2006 and it broken down after 15 months (Oct2007) with that fault that was on bbc watchdog on monday night!
I called samsung and they come out and did a free upgrade but I also said I wanted £150 for the loss of food which they said no. However I was really fed up as I used to have a like model which also broke down 3 times in 5 years (However that has nothing to do with the replacement that i was issued with today)
However. After watching watchdog, I phoned them on monday night and said I have dixons 5 year cover plan and thats not the point REFUSE IT I said that i wanted a replacement model that does not have this fault. They said all samsung was going to do was give a free 5 year upgrade.
I said that this was not right. Why should i have to be without a fridge and freezer because of a fault with this product. I was on the phone 8 times and i basically said you have a choice replace it or ill take legal action as i reckon this item was not fit for purpose.
I had this model RS21DLMR and was today issued a replacement or credit note for £1000 from dixons but as dixons do not offer this model i took this one RSH1DLMR valued at £1150!
My basic arguements was.
1/ Why should i have a item that will/may/can break down as the upgrade with the heat will only work for a limited time. (12-18 months)
2/ I am a diabetic and need a fridge that works.
3/ What happens after the 5 years. Am i left with a heavy bill and damaged food.
4/ Why should i have to replace my food and wait for a person to fix this item every 12-18 monthsMaybe i got a replacement as I have had a fault with my product but i would still try with this.
When you buy a product why should we have to call you out to fix it every 12/18 months to fix a fault. I bought the product for hassle free, I understand that you can get some probs but this is so common!
Phone 0800 988 0123 and press 1 and ask for senior customer services and so not stand for there rubbish!
On another note if you taken out a extended warrenty for this item with dixons etc cancel it. its worthless.. you get £100 back!
This is the one they gave me. Without the side opening thing. they also will fit it for me to

I been told its very like this model http://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?sku=759396

So im a idiot for forcing samsung to replace my fridge/freezer?
Why should someone that paid over £1000 have to waste time
waiting for a person to come out and fix it and waste the food in my fridge/freezer.
I had it fixed in 2007 but they still replaced it today! If you have had a RS21 that has had the ice fault. Phone and
tell them you do not want th 5 year and that you want a replacementIts that simple!

Better still buy a proper “American” fridge freezer instead.

Participantyep, your an idiot
ok, lets have it
take out a five year warranty incase it breaks down, then, when it does, complain about it and ask for your money back eh?
thats your fault, no1 elses
samsung have admitted the problem, and are dealing with it, theyve given out the number and offered to extend the warranty
why should they change the appliance cos YOU said so? in the grand scheme of things… you are NO ONE
even watchdog, a consumer programme, didnt tell you to demand a replacement
the ‘expert’ they had on the show, who was obviously clueless, stating things that were just not correct
you, and the other consumer rights activist, kr1446 have served to do nothing on here other than mix it up
blatantly unaware of the facts, your just here to cause trouble
thing is, you both got what you wanted, and still you carry on, dont you
shouldnt you be out shopping, filling up your new fridge?

The fault and then the fix does not fix the prob for ever. If the fix fixed it for good then I dont see why you would need it to be replaced however the fix will not fix it it will help the product work for a while
thats your fault, no1 elses

No good. What happens after the 5 years? I have to pay out for a new parts? why. I paid for a fully working product!
why should they change the appliance cos YOU said so? in the grand scheme of things… you are NO ONE
I am.. I am a customer. I have 2 samsung tvs and 1 fridge/freezer. I like samsung. I would buy another item from them.
even watchdog, a consumer programme, didnt tell you to demand a replacement
No.. they didnt. But they should have, I fix that does not fix it is no good for anyone.
the ‘expert’ they had on the show, who was obviously clueless, stating things that were just not correct
I guess you are allways right?
you, and the other consumer rights activist, kr1446 have served to do nothing on here other than mix it up
Please do not personally attack me. I didnt do anything to you.

Locked? Why… I do not think so.
If samsung made a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} fix or said while your product is working if this fault comes back we will replace the part and any food loss then thats fine. otherwise they need to replace it! NO IFS OR BUTTS!

Yes, that is personal. I do not like being called a idoit.
My beef with samsung is fixed.. I am now telling other members that do not take the 5 year ask for a fix for good or a replacement item.
Are you a share holder to samsung? You are sounding like one.

No.. That replacement part is not a fix. It will FIX it for a while but it will start getting the same fault again and again.
If you call the 5 year bonus as a fix that is not a fix that is delaying the replacement issue for over 5 years.
