Now, now Bryan – the exemplary (if expensive) service provided by the company will quickly sort out this minor irritation.

From a technical viewpoint, any component will wear over time, indeed your belt may have simply stretched slightly. How old is the appliance?

As a highly intellegent individual, surely the term “fair wear and tear” must be easily understood. To condemn a finely engineered appliance to scrap for the sake of a £10 part in these days of “green awareness” is incredibly wasteful.

Hi Chris
But when this appliance was designed they knew that the belt would be spinning at either low speeds or high speeds…this in turn would make the belt stretch.
They have a duty to make the belt of a material to withstand this senario.By manufacturing a appliance with a component that will not last the life of the rest of the machine then that makes it not fit for purpose.is that not so ?.
Samsung are doing it so I WANT A NEW MACHINE.

To be fair, the belt is probably made of better materials than other, lesser, brands. However, given the size of your family and the volume of laundry generated, plus the Mrs’ habit of loading it to the gunnells with a ramrod, the rate of wear may well be accelerated to a point where we could consider that the machine has been abused.

Hi
I still feel that if a manufacturer can make a belt last the life of the appliance then the appliance is not fit for purpose and should be replaced.A belt should not have to be replaced again and again during its life.

Now that’s really unkind. Bryan has made a value judgement, backed up by his years of experience in the Trade, so we should really offer him support and help in achieving his aim.

Bryan…when the service engineer comes (you’ll recognise him by the nifty company overalls and black eyepatch….as k if you can have one of the aftermarket 2nevver nevver ware belts fitted…….you cannot do this yourself, as tampering with a machine about which you have had no training, will invalidate the warranty.
Make the engineer a brew—-extra brownie points for biscuits, sugar bowl and spoon. slice of cake…..
then ask about the Nevva nevva ware……these are FANTASTIC…..made of special high modulus unobtanium, you will be able to transfer it to successive machines for your whole life….of course, they’re quite dear
…..about £900…..and that’s why Miele didn’t fit one…cos your washer would have cost £1400…and eny fule kno you can get an ISE10 with 10 yrs. guarantee for a lot less and they will let you mess with that one as a bonus.
If this is all too much, Tesco has a special offer on Bells whiskey…half a bottle of that will make the problem seem insignificant. -
