KeymasterI have just pruchased a new pair of Thermal Cut Outs for the Hotpoint TDC62N (P/N 1701583), but when I took them out of the box, the 130C one (Green Spot) had the top pushed in and doesn’t seem to want to pop up.
I’ve taken apart the old one and it seems the “pop up” isn’t formed very well on these and doesn’t pop-up after it’s been triggered – a slight bend fixes that (but I had to knacker up the old one to find that out).
Two questions:
1. Any ideas on how to get the “pop up” to pop back up (it’s magnetic, but can’t find a magnet strong enough to pull it up as I only have kid’s fridge magnets 🙂 )
2. Is there a known general fault on these – the second pair that’s gone in the two years I’ve had the Tumble dryer (first pair failed while in Warranty fortunately).
Thanks.

Silly me – the Green Spot is a One Shot – must of got pushed in on packing or in the post.
A damn expensive game at £16 a go.
Got them from The Service Centre, so I guess they’ll change them for me???

Yep, it happens, we’ve had a few of those from the various kits available.
Your supplier may argue that you pushed the disk yourself, but he shouldn’t have too many problems returning them, so should supply you with another kit FOC.

Good news, they are sending a replacement FOC no questions asked. So without a Tumble Dryer for another 3 days, but hopefully this will sort it out.
Just for info for others, both times this has happened, the wife hadn’t cleaned the condenser unit for a few months and it was all gunked up with fluff – Also, she wasn’t allowing the Tumbler to do it’s full cycle (i.e. taking the clothes out when it’s still hot and putting another load on straight away without allowing it to cool first) – so I think the cobination of the Tumbler having to work much harder (because of the blockage) and not allowing it to cool has caused it to overheat.

Guys
My TDC62 has stopped drying – it just tumbles! – do you reckon it is the thermal cut-outs that need replaced, and if so, where did you get them?
Cheers

ParticipantStats are a good bet – DC will be able to sort them out for you. Do read and digest the above thread as to likely causes!

Almost certainly it will be yes. the part number is 1701583, if you have a Nochex account (the credit card module has an error at the moment 😕 ) you can buy them from the shop here:

Remove the back panel 😉
Make sure you pull the plug 1ST ❗

Hi guys,
Is there any way to check the thermal cut outs on the back of the drier to make sure they are defective, ie with a multimeter or something.
thanks,
Paula

ParticipantIf you are comfortable using a multimeter this is very straightforward, as both thermostats should be normally closed, thus giving a meter reading of virtually 0 ohms. To ensure accurate readings, you do need to split the circuit.
Do nothing without pulling the plug first. :plug:

Hi folks,
I just got my new pair of thermal cut outs through the post after ordering them from the shop. The problem i have is that the ones which arrived are different to the ones that i took off the dryer. one has a descriptor 130 and the other has the descriptor 105 but neither has a green spot and/or any other marking or number that i can tally up with any of the numbers on the originals. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to identify which is which, or even to be sure i have the right bits as my dryer is a tdc62 but the tdc62 wasnt listed on the list on the front of this packet despite the guidance above. Thanks,
Paula

Hi Paula.
It’s defintely the correct kit you have ordered for your model, I just checked your order 😀
For the position of them, the 130C one goes on the left as you look at them from the rear. The old thermostats should have the temperature on them somewhere as well, unless it’s burned off or illegible.
Hope that helps you sort the problem.
Dave.
