Have you checked the motor brushes?

ParticipantRe: Hoover Optima WMH 147 DF non operational……..
I don’t think the motor has carbon brushes, further clue is that no error codes are displayed. Is there a procedure for locating a error code which might help me solve the problem.
The Model No. is :Hoover Optima WMH 147 DF 80 1400 A PLUS..Regards,

Hi I have tried to run the Hoover Optima Washing Machine Range Diagnostic Routine in order to run a test sequence in order to produce a Error Code, although following the guide I cannot achieve this Test Sequence, is there any help out there.
Kind regards,

ParticipantHoover Optima WMH 147 DF Washing Machine Diganostic Tests.
Hi this is a follow up in depth query to enable diagnostic testing of my WMH 147DF/80-2 washing machine as described in error code test routine.
Hoover Optima Washing Machine Range Diagnostic Routine
1.Push and hold the FIRST Option Button with LED top right..
2.Turn the Program’s Selector Knob 2 steps in clockwise sense..
3.After about 5 seconds, release the FIRST Option Button with LED to the left
4.If the previous procedure was correctly carried out, all LEDβs are turned ON
simultaneously.
5.Test Sequence.
My interpretation of this Routine in colaboration with the attached picture.
1. Close washer door. Push & hold FIRST option button with LED top right
( Presumably COLD WASH button upper right on picture ? )
2. Turn program selector two positions clockwise.
( Presumably selector is in the off position as shown on picture then rotated two positions to the right ? )
3. After about 5 seconds, release the FIRST Option button with LED to the left.
( CONFUSSION DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS PROCEDURE ?? )
4. If the previous procedure was correctly carried out all LEDβs are turned ON
simultaneosly.
5. Test Sequence.
( How do you commence the TEST SEQUENCE )However I have arrived at the point where all the LEDβs are on but how do you
commence the test sequence ????????

Hi Martin please accept my deepest apologies for being so bloody minded regarding the Washer Motor. You were correct the motor has indeed Carbon Brushes fitted, commutator and brushes don’t look that good, so I will change them and clean up the commutator. Information I had gained from the net indicated that a Brushless
motor was fitted to this model. I was truely wrong so please accept my appologies. Do hope we can continue to correspond and that I haven’t wronged you.Kind regards,

Unless the machine has been really hammered then brush failure after 18 months is not good news. A lot of Chinese motors in them now, in fact some recent Candy/Hoover machines are built entirely in China. :rolls:
I had a Candy only this afternoon with brushes goosed after only 14 months, the Chinese ( Haier) motor is shot. π₯

Hi Martin thanks for your posotive response to my hard headiness,
really do require any help you can provide. As I have found out the motor brushes are goosed. I have tried to obtain replacements from local ( Lincoln ) dealers but they have none. Have since learnt that the motor is indeed a Chinese manufactured one and these dealers cannot even find a part No. when they drill down on there pc’s. As mentioned by another of your moderators Iadom who has had the same problem. If you can help information as found.Model :Hoover Optima WMH 147DF/2-80.
Ser. No. 3100340910340240.Motor :Haier TUV HCD63/52a3 41015501 S3 F/155 (CLF/155)
Hope you can help,

Would you say that your machine has been very heavily used?
If it has only been subjected to 3 to 5 washes a week then brush failure after 18 months is excessive and would suggest that the motor itself is faulty. Replacing the brushes would be unlikely to succeed for any length of time. π₯
Have you tried to clean the commutator, what condition is it in? A picture of the commutator would be good. π

Haier made motors are notorious for premature failure. Many fail in matter of weeks let alone months especially if you do one wash after another without giving it a break to cool down. Replacement brushes are plentiful on Google, just match up the photos on there to find the right pair.

Hi Martin & Iadom as requested have attached a photo of the Commutator and replacement brushes and a commutator stone should arrive shortly. Iadom this Hoover machine belongs to my daughter who can ill afford a replacement, so I’m hoping that by fitting the new brushes obtained from your own parts supplier and a gentle stoning of the comm. that I can get her back up and running. Thank you guys for your generous help it is very much appreciated
Kindest regards,
Mike. β β βSorry tried to attach small photo of commutator but file size to big…………………….

Hi Imadom finaly aquired a small enough file attavhment showing the Commutator of the washing machine you requested. Do apologise for the long winded Post, and have to admit that I am a rank ‘newbie’ to this type of procedure. Hope the picture is ok.

Mike. -
