ParticipantMy Bosch KGU3201GB fridge/freezer is displaying a flashing E2 on the fridge display. I have read various solutions to this problem on this forum but none are exactly the same wiring as in my fridge.
There are two boards, one of which has the display/control switches and is connected to the other board via a 20-way ribbon cable. There are also 2 wires from the main on/off switch on the front panel. The main board plugs into 2 sockets and there are no other connections to any sensors etc. Can anyone tell me exactly which wires and which board needs modification?

This fault code indicates a failed fridge evaporator, only cure is replacement of electronic control board in top of fridge (flat plug in one).
sensor modifications do not work on this model
Please post full Enr No. or refer to http://www.bsh.co.uk for price of board. is expensive π₯ if you have any doubts click on the big red tool box to find an independent engineer in your area π

Did the fridge section freeze food just prior to the E2 fault?

Fridge seemed to be working normally before the fault – although occasesionally it did go above +5. Freezer is working OK.
Any further advice would be much appreciated.

Itβs important to know if this is a KGU3201GB/01 or a KGU3201GB/05.
E2 fault is not the same for both revisions IIRC.April 2, 2005 at 10:59 pm #130529TKE

How can I tell? The identification plate in the bottom left of the fridge is now illegible. Is there some other way of identifying it? Is there a difference in the control boards?

How can I tell?
KGU3201GB/01 has operating panel inside front facia and flat power board that slots into top of appliance.
KGU3201GB/05 has operating panel inside front facia and power board in compressor recess near lamp transformer

ParticipantRe: Bosch KGU3201GB E2 problem
Looks like I have the 01 version. Can you confirm that its the 263782 module I need. Any idea of cost.
Does this mean that my current control board has blown components or is it a totally different board that is supplied to rectify the fault?

ParticipantRe: Bosch KGU3201GB E2 problem
Yes, yours is a /01 from your posts.
E2 means the fridge evaporator sensor NTC is reading >45 or <-35C i.e. itβs knackered! (Or wet)
The function of this sensor is to control the defrost of the fridge section evaporator (back wall).
The sensor is buried under the insulation and itβs not a good idea to try and replace it.
A solution is to replace the large plug in module with a service module 263782 as this ignores the sensor by using a set time to allow the evaporator to defrost.
The bad news is that it retails at Β£96 + VAT
