As we mentioned in our newsletter last week the new UK Whitegoods engineer search facility is now fully live to enable people to quickly and easily find a reputable engineer in their local area to repair faulty domestic appliances.

The search allows people looking for an appliance engineer to enter their postcode, the type of appliance that needs a repair and what make it is then search our database of over three hundred independent appliance repair engineers for a local match. Of course, as well as end users, this facility is equally useful to corporate clients seeking a repair agent, estate agents, landlords and more organisations that require an appliance repaired.
For example, to search for a washing machine repair on an Hotpoint washing machine, simply got to the engineer search page then enter the postcode where the machine is, select the “washing machine” product from the dropdown list, then the “Hotpoint” brand from the brand selection dropdown then click the “Search” button. All the repairers that cover that postcode, that brand and carry out washing machine repairs will be displayed on the map and listed.
You can then send an enquiry about having a repair right from the system, straight to the repairing engineer.
Unlike other appliance engineer search facilities though, this one carries no charges to the end user or the repairing washing machine engineer. It is a completely free referral service that we provide to help people deal directly with the engineers across the UK.
Being free and allowing people to deal direct with the engineers also means that there is no middle man, as there is with many of these services and so it’s usually cheaper. No-one is trying to sell you any additional services, like a warranty or service plan and you will often get to talk to someone on the phone that actually knows the appliances, giving great advice.
Quality Appliance Repairs
Of course when we originally set this system in motion back in 2005, we had to be sure that the engineers worked to a standard that was acceptable. Things change, but we haven’t dropped the standards, in fact, we’ve upped them.
There are now two distinct categories of appliance repairer, those that work to our minimum standards and, trade association members who work to an even higher standard. Both are accountable to our own internal regulation in the event of any problem but, in six years we’ve had three issues from thousands of service calls with only one member having to be removed. Yes, we will will remove repairers that fail to meet the required standards.
The different catagoreis of domestic appliance repairer is shown as follows.
Appliance Repaired
The engineers repair a vast array of different kitchen appliances, from washing machines to fridges, to cookers and more. Cover can vary from area to area, even postcode to postcode but, for most people, finding a local engineer to repair a broken appliance should not be a problem at all. Even if you don’t, you can send us the details and we will try to find a repairer in the areas where there isn’t any cover.
The engineers offer repairs for:
- Washing Machine
- Tumble Dryer
- Washer Dryer
- Dishwasher
- Oven
- Cooker
- Hob
- Cooker Hood
- Fridge Freezer
- Refrigerator
- Deep Freezer
- Chest Freezer
- Waste Disposal Unit
- Vacuum Cleaner
- Gas Hob
- Gas Oven
- Gas Cooker
For The Engineers
For the engineers there are some new features that we’ve added not least of which is that you can now administer a lot of the information about your company online yourself.
The ability to do this is linked to your trade forums account and allows you to manage the products that you service, the brands that you will repair, your contact details and your current status.
You can find out much more about this and how to get your account linked to the editing facility in the forums, you will need to be a trade member to view this forum thread.

We have more planned with the feature that will be made available in time as we develop it further and we are looking to link it to other projects that we have ongoing. But we’ll tell you more about that at the Whitegoods Conference in February (find out more about that here) when things should be ready.
