It seems that Bosch are trying to capitalise on the appliance rebate scheme launched in the USA, which is absolutely stupid and pointless but isn’t stopping the European AMDEA from shouting for the same thing, by offering extra discounts on top of the government backed incentives.
Desperate for cash maybe as Bosch have reportedly just suffered their only losses in decades this past year… who knows but, if you’re in the USA and want a Bosch, now could be a good time to buy one. If you’re in the UK no such luck we’re afraid.
The press release follows:
This week, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) approved the first wave of the 56 individual rebate programs that were submitted for the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP). Bosch home appliances, the DOE’s 2009 Energy Star Partner of the Year for Appliances, welcomed the news and announced plans to help consumers make the most of the program.
To help consumers find information about SEEARP rebates and the additional manufacturer, retailer and local rebates that are available throughout the year, Bosch created the Bosch Rebate Resource Center.
“The state rebate programs will give an incredible boost to American consumers and the appliance industry by putting appliance rebates into the national conversation,” said John Farley, senior brand and environmental marketing manager, Bosch home appliances. “The Bosch Rebate Resource Center was created to help consumers year-round, including people who need to replace their appliances now and can’t wait until the new state rebates take effect; consumers who want the best possible deal during their state’s program; and consumers who enter the market long after their state’s program is over.”
Timing for each plan will vary state-by-state, as will the energy efficient appliances that are eligible for rebates. Most of the announced states are offering considerable rebates towards the purchase of ENERGY STAR-qualified clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigeration and freezers. A few states are limiting their programs to low income or rural applicants, while others are restricting their rebates to heating and cooling appliances.
Thankfully, consumers in all states may be eligible for other rebates, so they can save money upfront when they want to buy their ENERGY STAR-qualified kitchen and laundry appliances, and enjoy savings throughout the lifetime of the product thanks to reduced energy and water bills. Bosch currently has several rebate programs available for the purchase of select ENERGY STAR-qualified Bosch appliances.
