You might recall the recent story about Samsung fridges all of a sudden, without user’s consnet we’re told, displaying adverts that we reportred on recently. It seems that some people are not at all impressed with this and have offered a $10K bounty to break this function.
Posted earlier today on You Tube was this video explaining the bounty and, be warned, there is some strong language used in this one:
{source}<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/DaWpVDFcXgc?si=lpTBJVKpjQzvkqvU” title=”YouTube video player” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share” referrerpolicy=”strict-origin-when-cross-origin” allowfullscreen></iframe>{/source}
It will be very interesting to see if somebody does break the function or, if Samsung back off on this idea.
Details of the bounty on offer are here
For those that don’t understand, there are ways to globally block ads but it does require technical skill to some degree, it’s not mega hard but isn’t for people who are non-technical and that’s what the talk of a Pi-hole etc is all about but if you want to have a crack at it, you can get info and instructions on how to do that here.
