Electrolux Home Products plans to invest $6 million and add as many as 100 jobs in the next three years at an advanced technology center at its Anderson plant.
The company said Wednesday it plans to open its Cold Products Technology Center of Excellence in October.
Designers, engineers, scientists and technicians will be hired to develop refrigeration technology at the center.
“These are the types of jobs that are going to allow South Carolina to remain competitive,” Commerce Secretary Bob Faith said. “At the end of the day, it won’t be about the lowest labor cost. Here it will be about creating the type of product that will make people willing to pay the premium.
The 85,000-square-foot facility will be next to the company’s 800,000-square-foot plant, where the company already employs 1,500 workers.
