There are again talks about Electolux’s Italian operation in Italy ith new reports of factory worker’s salaries being reduced in order to make the plant viable. 

Bloomberg reports that Electrolux will cut close to 1,700 jobs and take a charge of 1.6 billion Swedish kronor ($164 million, we’d give it in £ but that’s a guess these days with Brexit) to reduce spending as the appliance maker battles increased raw material and tariff costs.

For people outside the repair industry this might not be of much note and how much of an impact that this will have on end user service is presently unknown as are probably some facts.

Electrolux announced on Friday that it has agreed to acquire Best, a European manufacturer of cooker hoods but the financial terms were not disclosed.

Nope, it’s not just Whirlpool or Hotpoint or Indesit or Beko or well, pretty much any dryer manufacturer that can escape the problem of their tumble dryers very occasionally bursting into flames.

Electrolux, the world’s second largest appliance company, will buy the precision cooker manufacturer Anova Culinary for $250 million, the companies have announced.

Electrolux has said that it wants to cut costs to help maintain profitability in Europe as the market cools off and slows.

Electrolux thinks that there’s a market for sharing your washing machine with friends, neighbours and prefect stranger apparently in a sharing scheme akin to the model used by Uber.

Built in ovens or electric wall ovens as they are known in the US that were made by Electrolux and sold through Sears retailers Stateside are being recalled due to a risk of posing a fire hazard.

Another regional brand is gobbled up by Electrolux this time it’s a predominately Australian vine cooling company called Vintec.
