Electrolux is planning to boost production at its fridge and freezer plant in Nyregyh??za, eastern Hungary, by 10% to over 900,000 items per year. As opposed to the 1,050 staff Electrolux agreed to employ in an agreement with the government in 2005, the current headcount is 1,700, local news portal Origo.hu quoted J??nos Tak??cs, CEO of the Hungarian subsidiary Electrolux Lehel and chief executive of the holding that incorporates Electrolux activities in the CEE region.
The largest European plant manufacturing certain types of refrigerators, the Nyregyh??za plant produces 840,000 fridges per year, a number the company is expecting to boost to over 900,000, Tak??cs said.
Electrolux Lehel saw revenues soar by 11% to HUF 180.9 billion in 2006 and to 201.1 billion last year. 75% of the 6.4 million white goods churned out by the company’s logistics base in J??szber©ny were exported to Western markets, while 25% were sold in the CEE region.
