Fisher and Paykel Appliances Holdings (FPA) today advised that the success of its DishDrawer dishwashers in the local and export markets has it preparing for further expansion of its plant and engineering facilities at Taieri, near Dunedin. The company said it has completed the expansion announced in June 2003 and that at that point it flagged more buildings being required.
“DishDrawer has generated a lot of interest in all of our markets,” said CEO John Bongard.
“Production has continued to climb and the prospects for more growth are high. Also, as the product design evolves, our engineers require more office and laboratory space.”
Mr Bongard explained that the product platforms that get developed provide it with the major points of difference for its customers.
“Old technology often costs more and delivers less so we have to have facilities for undertaking experiments and testing,” he said.
Mr Bongard advised that the planned expansion involves spending between $3 million and $4 million to extend existing buildings on the site.
