Got a Bosch Logixx SRS55L02GB/15 slimline. It replaced our previous Bosch which wasn’t particularly old but seemed to have been inhabited by mice!

The latest one needed an engineer to come out within 6 months to fix. It has now gone wrong again – of course, just after the warranty has expired :o( We have had an engineer come out (not a BSH engineer but a recommended independent), it seems that the electronic panel has had a relay burn out. The cycle just won’t finish. He tried resetting it, etc. It just won’t count down. He said we could probably get a new panel for £150 + labour etc. By the time we’ve finished it’s probably better to get a new one and we’re not very happy with Bosch because of our experiences.

    1) Could we actually get a replacement panel a lot cheaper?
    2) Is it likely we canactually get it repaired cheaper i.e without a whole replacement panel if just a relay has burned out?
    3) I am considering the AEG80680 as a replacement. Also a Siemens (SE25M575GB or SE25M851GB) or maybe a low-end Miele (G975 or G977?)
The AEG and Siemens both have 5 year warranties which, with our current dishwasher experience, is quite a selling point.

Any helpful comments on any of the above?

    Thank You
    Phil

    Hi
Its not actually the relay thats burnt out but rather one of the pins of the relay that goes through the PCB.
All it needs is cleaning up a bit and resoldering.

Un plug appliance if you or anyone is to attempt this :plug:

ok gegsy – thanks for this. Not sure if I am able to do this – might give it a go but who else could do this as cheaply as poss? Any old electrician – or a dishwasher repair person (though the last one didn’t suggest it).

I do know an electrician but he doesn’t know owt about dishwashers – how can I point him in the right direction? How do I even find the PCB – is it just unscrewing a few screws and then the burnt-out one will be obvious?

    Thanks again

    Hi
Its a pretty routine solder job and the module is behind the fascia at the front.

yep – ok, managed to find the PCB but to my untrained eyes – and with no idea what I’m doing with a PCB, I can’t see any obvious problems. What kind of person will be able to find the fault on the PCB? What kind of tools do you need? I can’t see anything that obviously needs soldering but I don’t really know what to look for.

    Hi
If you use the link for an engineer below, Im sure they will be able to assist you 🙂

ok – I’ve emailed someone though they live around 30 miles away. Also not entirely convinced they will have PCB expertise? Looking on the internet this seems fairly specialised skill – so will he just have to send it away to be checked anyway?

Assuming for the moment I cannot get it fixed or maybe it isn’t that simple – what do you think of the AEG, Siemens and Miele mentioned? Actually starting to go off the Siemens anyway since I have discovered that the PCB in the Bosch is a Siemens one!

Liking the look of the AEG at the moment.

Re: 2 and a half year Bosch dishwasher needs replacing

just want to check fault before paying again for an engineer – i think previous engineer didn’t like new fangled digital panels etc.

Have reset the program. Then started new Auto-Clean program. Timer says 133 minutes but then nothing happens. Doesn’t count down, doesn’t pump water in. Is this a PCB problem? Or could it be something else?

    thanks

    Hi
Sounds like something else. Re check the wiring if you took it off PCB before. It does drain 1st? If so is the water to appliance turned on?
    Power off first.

Re: 2 and a half year Bosch dishwasher needs replacing

no need to drain- no water to drain.

nothing has changed with regard to water feed. It’s direct from the water pipe under the sink.

It doesn’t fill with water (I haven’t put a dishwasher tab in for this test – assume it doesn’t matter). Could this just be the PCB not firing off the right instructions? Though there is “noise” from the machine – it is not totally inactive, just not filling with water and (presumably therefore) not counting down

One thing the previous engineer did check was whether it was “flooded” but it wasn’t.

Re: 2 and a half year Bosch dishwasher needs replacing

    Hi
It should attempt to drain, that is the first thing it should do, then fill with water. Then it should recirculate the water and stop filling.
If you are happy that the tap under the sink is in the on position and the hose isn’t kinked then it could be a number of things why it doesn’t fill from faulty fill valve to PCB to problem with the pressure system.
IMHO now would be a good time to call an engineer as its gone from a not heating fault to another fault.

Re: 2 and a half year Bosch dishwasher needs replacing

    ok thanks.

Having called out an engineer once (though I think he was old school – best on pre-digital machines) and having paid him money not to get the thing fixed, PLUS my missus giving me grief – I think I’ll just buy an AEG80860 and hope for the best.

Might stick the other dishwasher in the shed and play with it a bit! If I manage to fix it I’ll sell it. If not I’ll just offer it to freecycle.org

Thanks for prompt replies – wish I’d come here first but urgency of situation made me forget about this site. Wish I’d called a UKW engineer in the first place.

    doh!

Or save a few quid and but a Zanussi, or even a Tricity Bendix and get the same thing in a different wrapper. 😉

Re: 2 and a half year Bosch dishwasher needs replacing

ok, retried my test. Did a reset – currently timer stuck on 0, noise from machine – I assume it is draining but there is nothing to drain. So until it finishes that it won’t fill but it never seems to finish the draining even though there’s no water there?!

Re the ZanussiTricity Bendix – yeah but they don’t come with 5 year guarantee and only have 41db noise so they are not same machine! Maybe same manufacturer but different spec…..

Slightly. Still the same thing in a different wrapper. You can probably buy an equivalent Zanussi or Tricity and a five year warranty for the same, if not less.

However, if you’re going to spend that sort of money why not just buy a Meile and have done with it?

As to the noise, if you do a search you’ll see my comments over and over, that’s in a sound booth. Real world noise is very dependent on placement, surroundings and the person’s ear that’s listening, the db scale isn’t linear like most things, it’s very much subjective to the circumstances. It never ceases to amaze me how people arrive at the conclusion that things are quiet, or in the case of amps and suchlike, loud, just because they are told it is so, or the figures imply that.
