ParticipantI’m fed up with family members buying new machines with unrepairable sealed tubs. I’d rather they buy something secondhand that can be repaired and the parts are available for.
I’ve had an ISE 5-2 made by Vestel with a brushless motor for over 8 years with only the door seal and heater element being replaced.
What makes and models are readily available secondhand that would meet the criteria of being repairable and ideally have brushless motors (not direct drive)?
Secondhand ISEs are hard to find!Brushless motors would only be on the higher spec machines but I’ve not found any mention of them in product specs.
Were any Beko or Bush etc. models fitted with two part tubs and brushless BLDC motors? (Not keen on Miele etc because of the spares prices)
Any suggestions?
Thanks

“Machines?” You want more than one? Are you a trader in recon machines then?

No, I’m not a trader.
I was looking for a number of different suggestions, so I could choose a make and model to standardise on and then buy a couple to refurbish and pass on to friends and family when their 2 year old “disposable” machines die. I may eventually buy more than two if this strategy works…November 20, 2016 at 6:44 pm #442979iadom

Just a thought, if these theoretical machines are out there then if they were any good they wouldn’t be available to recon at an age that would make it worthwhile. A DC motor is not that much better than a good quality brush gear motor TBH.
Also worth mentioning that the DC control module for your machine has been obsolete and unavailable for at least three years now. 😉

Your strategy is flawed from the outset I’m afraid to tell you. The “disposable” machine however has some standing today especially when on a very tight budget as many last years longer than you would ever imagine.

Yeah, I know electronic spares for my ISE 5-2 and the motor just aren’t available. I think the Italian motor manufacturer went bust years ago. So it’s scrap if anything serious breaks – partly why I was looking for an alternative before they all have sealed tanks and bearing replacement is not possible.
I was mostly interested in the brushless motors because I’d read that really worn brushes could jam the motor and split the plastic tank. The guy that sold me the ISE seemed to think that the brushless motor was a plus point.
Some of the cheapo machines do seem to last quite well with careful use. Though I have a friend who seems to be able to destroy them every two years – I think she just does a lot of washing and overloads them or something.

The internet is full of garbage and that is just one more example of total b*****ks. 🙁
A good 3 phase motor is generally more reliable than a brush gear motor, it is quieter and obviously doesn’t suffer brush wear but the current crop of BEKO washers with this type of motor seem to be having quite a few problems with motors and modules as well as having a sealed drum.

Ok, sounds like recent Beko models get crossed off the list then…
Any recent(ish) makes that don’t have sealed drums?

Some Electrolux Group models but, depends on the PNC and where they were made.
Soem Vestel, maybe.
Other than that you will struggle.

The criteria then is cheap, secondhand, easy to recondition, long lasting….. Here’s the perfect example. (They come up all the time)……

Thanks, Bosch Classixx looks good, I’ll give one a go!
I’ve watched a video on YouTube of someone removing a bra wire from one and it was OK to take apart. From the video it looks like the Bosch Classixx is made by Vestel. Looking at the current Vestel brochure it seems as though the latest Bosch machines are also made by Vestel, the ones with BLDC motors are “Ecosilence”November 26, 2016 at 6:57 pm #442987Andy jones

Bosch only make their own. A Bosch is a Bosch made in a Bosch owned factory by Bosch staff on Bosch payroll.
Vestel are Turkish, beyond that I do not know or care TBH. 😕

That is not true Martin.
Bosch do not make all that they sell and to say otherwise is false.
The best example being bought in dryers from White Knight they used for years and they still buy in side by side fridge freezers.
What else they buy in, no idea as I don’t have access to the information since Bosch is as secretive and as closed shop as MI5.
