Indeed iadom, only when I got the back off did I discover the ‘small nuts’ you referred to which were retaining the rods. I think I shall write a manual how to replace the belt on this model!! regards

Well considering that yours is the only request for one as old as this that I can remember in the past few years, and that it must be at least 7 or 8 years since I last did a belt on one the need for such a manual would be very limited. 😀

It was half a joke — the manual would be for my children!

I like your reasoning, thinking long term. My Bosch dryer is a similar age and I have a good stock of belts and drum bearers (the only things that wear out in time) 😉

Perhaps I ought to have bought TWO POL-03 belts!

A good investment. 😉

03 Belt also TOO BIG! You wont believe it, put it all (bar back and front) back together and re-tensioned pulley, but it is about 4cm too long. Any ideas or is time to cave in to my wife’s demands for a new one!

Further thought — is there an elasticated belt that will do the trick?

Are you sure you’ve put it around the jockey pulley the right way?
You measured the old belt and said it was 192cms long. A POL03 is 191cms long so it should fit OK. I’ve checked and double checked the size of one listed for an ancient TD400 and it comes up with POL03. So I’m struggling to comprehend the issue short of it not being threaded around the jockey pulley the right way…???? 🙁

Agree with Martin once again, sounds like belt is routed incorrectly, can you post a picture of the belt in situ?

Tks, thought I had followed iadom’s exploded view of the pulley. I have a photo but the site says the attachment is too big for this site, so I’ve asked your main admin email for an email address where I can email a downsized attachment — unless there is a way to downsize an attachment here.

Iadom’s image isn’t that clear TBH. But here is the basic idea……..

Thankyou Martin, that is clearer, and as you will see from my downsized photo I have got it wrong, so tomorrow I’ll try again

Martin, from your diagram I don’t see how you get the belt round the drive below the pulley!
