Get an engineer out to repair it before you end up down the hospital with yourself being repaired by them.

But there’s the rub Martin, voltage has very little to do with resistance, insulation or continuity testing . 🙁

Your response demonstrates why we are right to warn you to proceed no further, i take my hat off to you for wanting to learn about electrical testing, however this forum is not the place to learn this, i suggest you enroll on an electrical course and then test meters and electrical appliances will be your playground, but not now.
Seriously if we attempted to tell you how to do by words here and you get it wrong and electrocute yourself we will feel terrible and that simply cant happen. Now call the repair guy!

Why should i call the repair man? All i want to know is narrow down the issue in why it carries on washing on any programme at 1 minute left. It keeps washing. It dont spin so i cancel the wash, switch to spin. It drains no problem. Spins no problem, opens door no problem. So why is it playing up? Looked online, all points to drain pump but i solved that! What else??
Electrode myself? How can i with testers that have plastic handle. I’m not gonna touch wires. I’m too sensible to do that! Pmsl

Yes thats right, you will be an electrode if you mess with electrics when you are quite clearly out your depth.
You asked for advice on using a meter, we cant tell you that because of forum rules and the saftey of yourself.
