ParticipantHi everyone,
I have an AEG competence b1180-4 which was working fine for a couple of years before two days ago it stopped working.
When I switch it on at the wall socket the clock lights up and displays the time set function (which it never used to do) prompting me to set the time. After this if the oven is switched to one of the cooking modes (Grill, fan etc) the little red light on the left lights up as expected. However when the temperature dial is set the other red light (to tell if it has reached the set temperature) does not come on as expected and the oven does not start heating up. The main fan does not come on (however another small fan can be heard switching on an off intermittently). The grill does not heat up on that setting and the light inside does not come on.
I do however hear that small click (which I normally would of heard) when the temperature is adjusted as if something is switching on.
I have tried making sure there is no delay set and any timing issues. I have tried playing with the settings for a while and no joy.
I assume since nothing will switch on it must be a problem with the clock?? Would that be a correct assumption. Is this a big thing to remedy?

Thanks for getting back to me.
How do I switch to manual mode? I have three buttons a plus a minus and a clock button to cycle though settings. Once I set the time I can choose to set cooking start time (which I’ve tried messing with). If I don’t select a cooking start time does that mean its set to manual?

there are 10 cookers with this model
looked at one and it seems a simple design and if its correct its most likely either your clock or the selector switch gone faulty

Ok thankyou for the help. I wonder if that is something I could fix myself? I’d rather not buy a new oven

Just noticed that although the little red light on the left does light when a selection is made it now sometimes is dim and flickering. It is dim maybe 1 in 3 times

its probably going to be one of 3 things
1 overheat stat there is a small button stat that trip out if thing get too hot and stops the oven if it failed
2 clock if the clock relays don’t work power cannot get to the oven
2 selector switch contacts failed

Thankyou for the information.
Is there a way to bypass the clock to test if it is that? Is that possible/safe to do? I do not need a timer I just need the oven to work when switched on

Here is a picture of the wiring on the back of the clock. The yellow and orange wires closest to the front are connected to the same pin the same way the purple and white are joined at the back. There are 4 pins in total.
If I could just get rid of the clock and bypass it……
The clock is a “Diehl easytime 3”.

So join all three wires on the left. Many thanks!

Did that and the issue still persists. I have now noticed however a small blue rubbery thing with wires that looks like it is very burnt. Could that be my problem?
