What can it be.

A fault with the main electronic circuit board (Module) is the most likely fault. 🙁 Try ‘Resetting’ the programme a couple of times (i.e. Press and hold the start button for up to 5 seconds) in the hope it clears 🙂

Thanks Martin, but it didn’t help.
I inspected the board- there is nothing visable wrong.
I see there is a 93c84 flash ram. If I erase it, will it clear the remembred fault? Are there any important info in the memory? Usually when the processor see the memory is clear, it dafaults it.
Am I right?July 4, 2004 at 8:42 pm #113417admin

Hi Martin,
I gave up. I put the module on another machine and the code is still the same.
Any idea where I can buy a module?
Can I use my 5 years parts warranty? If you have something can you contact me @

That would be a sensible option to pursue as repairs could be costly in parts alone 😉 , but in order to do that you would need to call whoever covers the warranty. And get one of their engineers to look at it. They would just charge ‘Labour only!!!

ariston products are now banned in my home.

Keymasterclayt27,
Hotpoint is now owned by Merloni, which is Ariston and Indesit, amongst others. 😕

OK, I found brand new board, but without EEPROM.
I put the EEPROM from my board and … the situation is the same.
Can I decide, the program in the EEPROM is corrupted?
Can I buy EEPROM (93c46) with pleloaded program, or where I can find the program, I’ll write it in the chip.July 12, 2004 at 3:04 pm #113423Martin

Dimo,
The best persons to answer Emprom questions specific to these Modules is EMW Ltd (See Trade Spares Suppliers in ‘Web Links’) They will repair and reprogramme your Module for you 😉

Now, with a new eeprom, I have code 3.
Any idea what it can mean?July 19, 2004 at 2:18 pm #113426Martin

As long as it is a genuine replacement part specific to that model AND you fit it the correct way round (Semi-circular mark on Eeprom to fit towards semi-circular mark on the board) you will be fine 😉
A word of caution, there are 2 models with 2 very different Eeproms. The Eeprom to fit an Ariston AWD12UK is Part No C00092563. The Eeprom to fit the Ariston AWD12SUK is Part No C00092678. No idea what “Code 3” means sorry as long as the part numbers tally you’ll be all set! 😉

ParticipantThe part no is the same, do I need to reset it and how it can be done?
When I put the old chip it still reports code 9. With the new chip it flashes 3 times.July 19, 2004 at 7:16 pm #113428Martin
ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita AWD12
Dimo,
9 flashes indicates “Eeprom incompatability”. When fitting the correct eeprom to the module, you will need to carry out a “reset”. The 3 flashes may well indicate the previous fault and can be ignored until after resetting. If it happens then, you may have a fault with the Thermostat or whatever. 😕
Sorry cannot advise further I’m afraid, as I would need to check out the machine as a whole 🙁
