    Hi Everyone,

    Hope all is well

I have a Beko DE3542 FS Dishwasher that seems to have a jet pressure issue. Ive found that the water pressure coming from the rotating jet arms is very low. So low that it does not force the arms to rotate. There is clearly some pressure there as water is coming through the jets, and its even reaching the top arm, but I neither arm is rotating, and the jet power wouldn’t exactly clean my ketchup off the plate!!

I had the dish washer completely stripped down at the weekend, everything from the bottom was stripped out, inspected and thoroughly cleaned. I found no noticeable physical damage. But upon being reassembled there is still little power.

    Any idea’s??

    Cheers

    Russ

Motor or motor capacitor would be the places to start.

The wash motor is here but I don’t know what size cap is in that dishwasher.

    Thats Great, thanks Kwatt,

Is there a method to test the motor / cap?

If it’s running but not giving enough pressure the best bet is the capacitor which you can check with a test meter. Or, just replace it and hope for the best but I’d say there’s a fair chance that’s all that it will be.

    Thanks Kwatt,

I will give it a test and let you know.

I assume Im just measuring the resistance across the Cap as it charges up, and if it remains high resistance its dead?

    Hi,

Well is seems indeed like the capacitor is dead. Getting an infinity resistance reading both polarities.

Its a 4uF cap, Im see one off flea bay for £3.99, or there is a 250v version at Maplins.
Would I be right in assuming the 250v would be too low a voltage beens as the current one is 400v rated

Got a new Cap, but Ive been sent the wrong one. Ive been sent a 12.5 uF

Not to worry as they are going to replace with the correct one. But I was just wondering would the 12.5 uF be ok to fit to test if it corrects the problem, or will it not work / cause damage?

Re: Beko DE 3542 FS – Low Jet Pressure

    Hi All,

Ok, got my 4 uF cap through today. switched it over and turn the dishwasher on (I have it raises off the floor, but upright, so I can observe from under during operation).

Unfortunately, the jets were still low powered. So I had a little look around, and what I did noticed was the noise, it almost sounded like the pump was pulling in air as well as water.

So I tried a test where by I locked the door while open (so it would operate while the door was open), put the hose pipe in and added water while it was on. As I added more and more water, the jets burst in to life.

So I started the cycle again, took the bottom tray out and took the risk of getting drenched while it started up. What I noticed was the drain pot (bottom middle) was filling up with water as the cycle started. it got to about 3/4 full and then started its wash cycle, as soon as the pump turned on, the jets quickly died as all the water was used up and the water level in the pot dropped such that the pump was pulling in have water and half air.

Hopefully Ive explained such that you can understand, from here Im not sure what to check for??

    Cheers

:lesson: Well for a start never over-ride a safety switch, an appliance has a door switch to prevent it working while the door is open. :lesson: Why not try the appliance to run as it should & start a program, let it fill as normal not by filing with a hose, when you hear it has started open door, you can see whether spray arms have turned by taking note of the position.

Theres an issue with the feeder hose to top spray arm not locating correctly, meaning that when top basket is pushed back it doesn’t go in properly & not enough water comes through top spray arms. If both spray arms don’t turn correctly its likely theres a motor problem, that could be a defective cap’ as advised or a mechanical problem with the pump, worn impellor maybe. If you’re lucky it could be just a blockage in the impellor or pipes to or from circulation pump.
