I have a Beko fridge/freezer just 2 months old and it’s packed in losing me well over £100 in food. The model is CCFM1571W. When I rang Beko they went through all the questions (have i checked the plug. Are the seals working etc) I have power because the light is working and the seals are perfect. I am annoyed that the company I bought it from refuse to change it and I have to wait 5 days for an engineer to come out to it.
Has anyone else had a problem with Beko fridge/freezers or with the company itself. I am wondering if this is a common problem with them, My last Fridge/freezer was a Hotpoint and it lasted almost 20 years.
    Thanks for any replies.

No one around. I have tried everything, turning it off for 10 minutes then on again. The motor is going, I can hear it but it is not getting cold in the fridge or the freezer. I bought some ice cubes but all they did was to leak everywhere.

If the motors running it has lost the refrigerant or the compressor has failed not a job you can sort yourself.

Thanks Samuri, I’m hoping the engineer will fix it on Tuesday then.

if its lost refrigerant and the leak is not on the compressor then its likely they would swop it anyway

as for your food they should give you the money back as part of the guarantee

don’t let it put you off the make. if this was common on any make they would not be in business for long

I had an email today saying they wouldn’t compensate me for lost food and told me to contact my home contents insurance. Trouble is as you know, the excess wouldn’t cover my loss and if I claim my policy would go up next year.

think I would question that as its their product that failed under warranty through no fault of you own that led to the loss of your food

Thanks Dave, I’ll see what their engineer says first then take it from there.

The engineer came yesterday and fixed it with a new compressor. I lost £120 in food and taken me another £80 to restock. Beko say they won’t compensate me and to claim off my house contents insurance.
Not worth it because there would be an excess and my premium would go up. I was 10 days without a working fridge freezer. The shop and Beko have diabolical customer service.

I have never known any manufacturer cover food lost due to the failure of a fridge freezer. The only thing covered is the fridge itself.
The only time food is covered is with extended warranty but in general they are not good value for money as appliance failure is low for the amount sold.
You could contact the customer service department of the supplier and tell them nicely how disappointing there service was and how disappointed you were with the fridge freezer you purchased and tell them you would not recommend them to your wide group of friends or family.
i have known a few customers have had success as in general they like to keep customers happy.
i would advise you not to publish anything on social media as this can lead to big problems for you unless you are saying anything good about the company.
it always pays to go down the pleasant route and then you get them on your side and sometimes get results.
i would not stock up you freezer fully for a couple of weeks to check the repair was successful and there are no refrigerant leaks.
    Good luck

    that’s mad bob

a customer should be covered against loss due to the failure of the product. 2 months old is just crazy. I know things can fail at any time but at 2 months old this was faulty when it was bought

it ok saying claim on your household insurance but they are forgetting excess, no claims discount and whether the customer has insurance.

if a washing machine fails 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time the worst it can get is a load of wet clothes but in a freezer you could lose hundreds of pounds. just does not seem fair to me

Spot on Dave, none of them want to know now. It’s been repaired. But I am still angry that we went 10 days without a fridge or freezer with no compensation.

I would follow bobs advice as he is a fridge man and leave it a few weeks before going for a restock in case there is a leak in the new joints etc
