ParticipantI know in the other thread its been an ongoing discussion re welded tanks but putting that aside what do who do we believe is the best of the lower costs brands.
Of Hotpoint/Indesit, Beko, Hover/candy and the Electrolux brands what do we think is the best for sub £350.
And before someone posts none these are still the market leaders and the most sold in the Uk so they must be doing something rite.
I’m coming at this from the point of view if you had to buy one whirs make would it be.

Just been looking through Currys and at the 8kg minimum 1400 models and the 4 under £350 are 3 Indesit/hotpoints and 1 thing call a Sandstorm.
Interestingly even a Haier is more expensive than a Samsung and Bosch.

Wether you believe it or like it or not Hotpoint is still the top selling brand although its rumoured Beko may have taken this crown in 2012 but no data on that yet.

Pardon me for asking you ma, but what exactly is the point of your question?
You seem to be surfing the web around through various brands right now but where are we going here?

What I’m trying to see is what we as engineers think is the best brand for under £350. Iv noticed every time some one on the public side asks for a recommendation for a cheaper machine the reply is almost always don’t bother unless your spending £500+ and then look at a Bosch ect.
The problem is the majority of people do not have that extra, its all very well saying spend more but often its not posable, I’m often asked my self what would you buy and I don’t tent to aline my self to any brand now I just tell them to buy based on there family needs.

I just don’t understand the negativity from with in the trade at times. Im purely trying to establish what people think on the lower end stuff without just getting a single word answer.
It’s easy to be negative and say everything is crap, scrap or white shite but that’s nether constructive or the truth.
Every make has Its good and bad points, simply labelling everything as crap is just stupid.

People will pay what they will pay. I get better returns on selling Beko compared with Hotpoint/Indesit and Hoover/Candy. The question is how easy to unpack and install such make. Hotpoint and Indesit has too much packaging. Hoover/Candy is the easiest to transport due to narrow drum, not a great deal of packaging to remove. Beko is quite a handful.
If I was asked to suggest, then my financial motive would be Beko due to better mark up on it.
If it’s washer dryer then it’s Hotpoint.
I wouldn’t suggest Hoover/Candy unless customer specifically asks for it then I will supply it.
It’s all brands loyalty at the end of the day.

And the last post is what angers me most, quite clearly sells what makes the most profit, not what is best for the customer, did you work for currys?

So what’s your problem then, DrDill? If it’s best for the customer and returns a good profit, then surely it’s a win-win situation. And a clear conscience.
Also I personally think that sub£350 should not be the cut-off for a”budget brand”. More like sub £250.February 3, 2013 at 10:15 am #389290DrDill

Both Hoover & Indesit/Hotpoint have sub £250 market well covered, customers flock to buy of their own choosing. Small Indies have no chance competing on price though but guaranteed after sales potential nonetheless. So yeah, if that’s your budget then go buy one, they do the job and my conscience is clear…! 😀
