Whatever the noise is (draining? some motor running) it does run continually while opening the door.
Have just tried it on a rinse cycle and the noise just continues without filling with water.

In that case then the base tray (underneath) is flooded and the anti-flood switch now activated. The machine requires unplugging, laying on its back and the baseplate removed to find out where it is leaking.

The check water light was on this morning. The last time that happened I pulled the machine out and tipped it back until water came out and then it was okay for a while. I will try that and check underneath as well. Thank you for your help with this.

Remove the salt cap and make sure the plastic nut underneath the salt cap is nice and tight. You may have disturbed it in your efforts to check things?? If it isn’t tight water leaks into the base and activates the safety float.

Thank you for that tip. I will look at that. I remember now that these intermittent problems started when I first filled the salt. I will check the salt cap and get rid of surplus water in the tray before trying again. I will then check the underneath thoroughly to see if there are any leaks.

I removed the salt cap – not sure what you mean by the nut underneath. There is a circular clear bit that turns back and forth – is that what you mean?

Not really getting anywhere. I checked everything and pulled the machine out and tipped it back to get rid of the water in the tray (which I had done before and it did the trick) but have turned it on – I can hear something whirring but it does not fill with water. So back to square one.

Update – I forget abut the reset button. So I have done a reset and turned it on again and it is now filling with water and washing. So will see what it does at the end of the cycle.
Of course I still have to track down the leak but will need help from OH with that.
