ParticipantI have Bosch Fridge Freezer (No Frost) which is about 10 years old.
Just to describe it it is about 6’6 tall. Has Bosch ‘no frost’
Computer Control – freezer on the top . Under the freezer flap are the following buttons Mains on/off, Max Freezing capacity, Economy Storage, Acoustic Alarm off, Highest Temp Indicator & Freezer Temp setting. Then to the right the freezer temp, the Eco/Super LEDs, the fridge temperature and then to the right of that the ‘Cooler’ flap which has an up/down temperature setting.Whilst both the fridge compartment stays steady at +4C and the freezer at -18C the problems start when I need that extra ‘umph’ to cool things down.
When I used to press the ‘Super’ button the compressor would kick in and could get the temp down to -23C/-24C.
Now the lights come on but the compressor doesn’t kick in and the temperature stays at a steady -18C.
Likewise if I put something warm in the freezer the temp starts to rise (up to say -13C/-14C for a couple of hours and will then drift slowly back to -18C.
Last night with the weather so warm I filled up one drawer with wine bottles and hit the ‘Super’ button and over the course of about 90 mins the temperature rose to +1C in the freezer. (the fridge compartment rose temporarily to about +7c)
Obviously everything melted but over the course of the next 6 hours it drifted back to -18C and is now steady at -18C.
Now the first question I have is where do I find the model number?
There appears to be no number on the front & the only number I can see on the back is a Model number of the compressor itself (D81C19…..) which I think is the compressor model rather than the whole fridge/freezer.
Anyone any ideas where to a) find the model number & b) what might be wrong?

Nope, nothing on the Salad bin (in the fridge compartment) – nor either side or behind (totally removed the salad bin to check).
No writing of any desciption as far as I can see apart from ‘Halogen’ written on the fridge light! 🙂
However, I have found the manual and the stickers are on there.
Model No. KGU3200GB & FD number is FD7502.
So anyone any ideas what is wrong?

I would say it may be one of the various sensors, it could also be the main control unit.
Engineer time for one of these to be honest, check repairs@ for one near you 😀

So it’s the electronics then by the sounds of it?
Well repairs@ gave no service engineer in my area (West London)
As I’m an electronics engineer by profession I’m fairly confident to give it a go myself with the approriate guidance (or ideally service manual).
(It’s just if it was compressors or refrigerant I would have given up!)

So does anyone have any idea which sensors I should be checking and where they are located?
TIA

also have a bosch_no frost fridge freezer several years old works fine till the warm weather hits it. Got an enginner in yesterday and he said that it was a drainage problem. all he seemed to do was remove inside back panel from the freezer and remove the ice that had built up behind it with a hair dryer. freezer works fine now
hope this helps if you’re still having problems.July 15, 2005 at 11:41 am #139066admin
KeymasterI have Bosch Fridge-Freezer – the freezer works fine but the fridge does not; it gives “E2” error message in the display and won’t get down to correct temperature. Main circuit board seems OK. Has anyone any idea what is wrong?

hope this helps if you’re still having problems.Yes I did the same about 3 weeks ago. Heavy build up of ice. Thawed it out and cleared all the drainage points.
Even checked the sensors to make sure none of them were open circuit.
It seems to work slightly better but it still doesnt take much for the temperature to rise pretty quickly.
Put a plate of warm rice in there last night for about 20 mins and then took it out again and the temp shot up to about -12C.
So still don’t think it is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.

Yes Dave, it’sKGE3301GB/02
E2 on this model meens failure of foamed in NTC evaporator sensor, not replacable part, you have to replace electronic control board, time for an engineer?
See repairs@ on the left of this site = big red tool box.Regards

Which model number is yours please ?
Although it’s probably going to be the same problem as the above to be honest 😉

Dave.
Looking for some advice, any help much appreciated.
Was given this Fridge/Freezer in October not sure how old it is (It came from Switzerland). It has worked fine up till now. Earlier this week E2 appeared on the Fridge LCD, and the temperature was pretty warm, I adjusted with temperature control and it sorted itself out. Yesterday E2 appeared again, playing with the temperature controls had no affect. This morning, I turned it off at the mains for 5 minutes, when I turned it reported 16C and since then it’s been slowly going down (7C now).
Assuming it E2 reappears am I looking at £150+ parts/fitting costs? Would it be worth buying a new fridge, we don’t need something so big (but will have it when it’s free!)
The freezer has worked fine the whole time.
