what does this saga say about the publics attitude to a lot of independents ?
Took 3 different companies to clear a blockage !!
How can these cowboys (for that is what 2 of them seem to be) carry on ?
👿 It makes my blood boil ! 👿
They should stick to the machines they can handle. Go back to fitting HPT carbons and nothing else 👿 👿 👿At least the customer stuck with it and found a seemingly reputable repair person in the end, but many a customer would have given up and gone away disillusioned !
(feel better now thats off my chest, will now go and lie down for a bit..)July 26, 2004 at 6:57 pm #114087Martin

Easy CJ,
Lets get this thing into perspective here for a moment please. 🙂
‘Independants’ (such as the majority of us on this site are after all) do represent the backbone of the entire field service industry. And I can assure you the ‘publics attitude’ to us is one of complete gratitude and support, in deference to manufacturers own service. 😉

I know we cannot tar all independents with the same brush, but how can the general public sort the sheep from the wolf ?
Can self regulation work ?
I would NOT like a CORGI type regime, but is there an alternative solution ?

CJ,
I refer you back to my previous comment:

Many manufacturers are now coming to us ‘Independants’ to take over their ailing, mal-administered service networks. A certain ‘Italian sponsored’ British company is currently advertising nationwide trying to bolster its declining workforce by offering dodgy franchise contracts to independants. Just who is the ‘sheep’ and the ‘wolf’ here I wonder?

I think you’re missing CJ’s point slightly Martin.
The manufacturer’s own employed engineers service may well be poor at times, but they will only move to Independants that have the neccassary qualifications and insurance.
What CJ means is how can we assure the public of our best intentions when you have the likes of poor Rob calling someone in good faith and then being given inaccurate and misinformed information.
Self regulation exists already for those of us with ethics and a conscience which those who use this site do I’m sure, but there are still some “cowboys” out there, although they are diminishing quickly as communication via sites like this and general word of mouth will soon either put them out of business or make them see the error of their ways.
Dave.

The cover is located in the sump, remove the fine & coarse filters and the screw is located at the “7” oclock position ( not ten ).
Just been reading this thread again and thought I would pick up one very small point here. I have not as yet come across many SRS series dishwashers, but the ones I have seen DO NOT have access to the drain pump from inside the tub 🙁 No little plate held with a Torx screw like the SGS series has 😕

Oh dear seem to have opened a can of worms here. Yes there are lots of cowboys in all these support industries. Thats why sites like this are great, because the good people can be plugged and hopefully join up so that you have a list of good people all over the country. I do hope martin from yesterday joined up, nice guy, here over an hour, because he gave the machine a good check over, and only charged £39. Keep up the good work lads. Must go dishwasher just finnished and needs unloading (dont they do that by themselves)? Rob 😆
