iam not surprised there was talk of this when i left BG
the engineers PPE bag will be bigger and heavier than their tool box
I wonder if BG have extended job times to allow for the extra trips to and from their vans to set up the work area ?

    I’d love it.

Had a guy with a range cooker, gave me a list of required parts he’d diagnosed, got stroppy when I asked him what the issue with the appliance was, he just needed those parts.

He was in my way the whole time I was working on it and kept pointing out parts I hadn’t fitted, in case I missed them.

Came to just under £200 quid, took an hour to fit, luckily he paid after he saw me testing the appliance.

Is it working was his reply, nope was my reply. He looked confused for a second then began blaming me.

I then proceeded to show him the reason why the oven did not work properly, the terminal block bridges hadn’t been screwed in tight and started to melt the box, causing only half the appliances functions to operate.

He then had the check to ask for the parts to be removed and a refund.

The cone would have been handy, I could have shoved it up his back passage.

lee8. so you fitted the parts he disgnosed? why would you do that? I would have checked the appliance then gave the customer my diagnosis and parts required, then done the job.

What you did makes no sense to me.

He was not accepting my help and frankly insisted on me fitting those parts, so I thought stuff it, I can’t force him and I wasn’t getting paid had I left telling him I wasn’t interested in the repair.

After all most shops don’t tell fat girls to stop buying skinny jeans, you have to accept the clients always right.

Being the boss, I can afford to pick my arguments. I did enjoy watch his stupidity sink in, especially when the wife started on him.

There is nothing worse than being in any kitchen, small or large and every fecker wants to come in.

You have got past the “Do you mind dogs” bit at the door, only for 5 mongrels to dribble, grobble and p155 on you.

Then when you get in the kitchen, there is a family of 7, all on different timetables want to cook tea, make toast, breakfast and drop the odd fart off around you.

We have started to ask customers at the point off booking the call to ensure Animals and Children are out of the way. Might extend that to get the feck out of my way and from over my shoulder.

I’d love to know what their general reaction would be toward that request?

It must be the new way of doing things Martin, on these forums i have read how engineers steal customers items out the filters of washing machines, who can be in the kitchen when the repair takes place, it seems customers are an inconvenience to some engineers!

When we turn up at the door they ask,

“Is it you that is frightened of dogs”

It is when they start using chip pans and boiling pans a few inches from the Engineers head.

I guess the same would be first to Sue if they tripped over the Engineer, his tools or any bits of the appliance. What if the engineer stepped back and fell over the Animal and injured it/them, let alone himself/herself.

I can Imagine the first thing any Law firm would ask for (apart from their 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} fee). Would be clarification as to what steps the Engineer took took to prevent such an accident, method statements etc etc.

Should the Engineer get bit, what would the same lawyer would ask?

I have no objection to customers being in my presence whilst I work. Providing they stay out of the way.

    Simples!

    TM
