ParticipantI recently bought a second hand Candy Grando GO DF800. It worked fine when i got it home and tested it. I moved house days later. I dropped it on a bottom corner during the move so the bottom feet got bent up and in a bit, i tested the machine and it done a handful of washes just fine. Then days later the drum wont turn and i get this E08 error. The machine fills and drains but wont turn.
SO after seeing a vidoe on testing a hoover motor with the e08 error, i proceeded to check the brushes which had about an inch of life in them. I used my cheap multi tester (dial & needle type) to check the ohms on the 2 wires coming from the tacho, i get zero and zero when i turn the motor. I have the motor off at the moment.
So can someone tells me if this sounds like the tacho needs fixed or any other suggestions,
Many thanks guys 😉 😉

The tacho is available if you give me the product and serial number which starts normally 31************** 16 digits long and also which motor is on the machine ( sole ) ect.
We can supply the part

SO is testing the tacho a bit of a hit and miss as i read a post where the guy got bad readings from the tacho, replaced the tacho and the brushes and still had the E08 error.

I think the clue might be in that statement. Secondhand machine, transported from pillar to post, been dropped and so on. I’m guessing throughout that time the drum wasn’t secured and therefore the wiring to the motor will have born the brunt.
Check the wiring harness and motor plug very closely.

Hi.
The terminal block was still attached to the bracket on the motor and there is lots of slack in the wiring so it does not look as though the cables got harmed.
How reliable is testing the tacho with a multimeter?

Very. Spinning the armature should generate current noticeable on a multimeter.

maybe i should get a decent multimeter and test it, i have one similar to this below, just a cheap screwfix one, so im not sure how reliable it is, i get a zero reading when turning the motor shaft.

Ok i just tested the tacho and it is only going as high as 0.5. Does this mean i definitely need to change the tacho.

0.05 what? A magnetic tacho generator is axactly that, a generator, of voltage. It should register a rise in voltage and if it does, no matter how minimal, it proves it works.

0.5 ? ohms, i was going by what i saw on you tube, test the resistance, is this correct? SO does it look like my tacho ok?

No the resistance is incorrect. Does it generate voltage when you rotate the armature? I guess not. 🙁
Don’t you just love those YouTube video’s. :rolls:
