Direct is the cheapest if you have an account but you have to buy loads of them (200 minimum), the part numbers ending in 77 are just the bulk buy version.
I do buy them direct but the two main distributors offer me these prices:
£2.45 Connect (1’s no quantity discount)
£2.57 Washvac (best price but min 50)
So, Connect win at the moment 😉

Oops. I put the wrong part number. I meant 1600474. I don’t fancy buying 200. I use about 10 a week. Currently pay £3.99 each for 10 laminated @ wash vac as I order them 10 at a time. I will see if I can get 50 @ £2.57 – cheers
(that’s a saving of £71 plus 4 lots of carriage charges.)May 6, 2005 at 12:29 pm #133902Dave_Conway

If you’re buying the 1600474’s:
£3.95 from Connect or £3.67 in 25’s from Washvac.
If you want 25 or more, drop me an email 🙂 😉

I see, the price was for ordinary ones. My fault for confusing the issue. I will probably keep buying from wash vac thanks but I ought to buy in bigger quantities if only to save on p&p. I don’t do too much business with them these days but I’ve used them for about 20 years and I’d like to keep my account open. They are very good at sending parts direct to my customers and the paperwork to me, which I need for my web site orders.

Not funny guys! You scared the crud out of me by putting in the wrong part number. 🙄
Wash-vac/part-centre are doing high qualities for £2.99 (50+), where as Electrue are £3.25 lowest price.
This is because Wash-vac are still on the old stock, where as Electrue are paying Ind###t’s higher prices.

Yes that is a familiar picture to me from several months back, I have not had any problems since they slightly changed the holders.
Wish I was a member of this site back then as it drove me crazy getting recalls for a straight forward fault like this.Did everyone suffer from those brushes failing for no reason?

I had quite a few when the armature was perfectly OK. I eventually fitted the old black ones instead which I reasoned was better than having the armature knackered up by the laminated brushes or having to fit a new motor.

BTW I meant on a couple that I had more than 1 recall with new laminated brushes burning the plastic – not that I resorted to replacing all laminated brushes with old black ones 🙂

£3.50 per set from my usual supplier. The latest batches seem to have changed again, now almost white holders, much whiter than a few years ago.

I only fit the laminated ones on 1200 spin machines although I know Hotpoint used them on everything. Do some of you also use laminated on the 800 & 1000 spin models?

I replace like for like. if the originals were black I put black in if the originals are laminated I put laminated in. Occasionally I’ve replaced black ones with laminated ones for heavy users but at the end of the day, the black ones don’t last as long 😉
