So there pretty much the same, both have issues, both cheap etc etc.
Does it make any difference by having a rear vent to a front vent??
In my flat i cannot connect the vent up permantly, so i would have to pull the unit out often to disconnect/reconnect the vent pipe.
With the front venters, i can put the pipe on, hang it out window, then remove pipe and put it away in the drum for the next time

If the Hotpoint with the front vent makes life easier then go for it.
It doesn`t make any difference whether it vents from the rear or the front.
