Hmm. Sounds like an interesting idea screaming out to be invented. So I did a quick Google and found this
http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/level5/modul … 345078.xml
Looks like you’d have to devise your own clamp though.

Can anyone advise me where to get a decent affordable insulation tester?
I already own a Martindale IN2003 insulation tester. The insulation testing part seems to do what is expected though I am left feeling confused at the readings of being over range. The earth continuity testing part doesn’t seem to work well and I am left wondering if the tester is faulty or am I using it incorrectly. The batteries are fine and in good strength.
I am using a simple multimeter for earth testing in the meantime not for insulation testing.
I consulted with Martindale company who assured me that all is well and it is acceptable for PAT testing although they (Martindale) were not familiar with white goods testing. I know from experience that Megger BM221 would provide the results I like but can’t afford their prices. That’s why I opted for Martindale which could may as well be a dumb thing to do. Martindale suggested I get a PAT testing machine which is several times more expensive than what I am using.
Surely there must be a better way to carry out PAT testing, insulation testing, and earth continuity testing without having to spend several hundreds pounds on few equipments?
My tester gives a limited range for insulation testing, the maximum is 100 mohms, I know that is very good as it passed the minimum requirement of 2 mohm but I would like an exact reading rather than get a display of “over range” purely to write summat on a paper to prove that it passed with a reading of such n such instead of over 100 mohm. Is it possible for appliance to have insulation readings higher than 100 mohm?
I am considering to get the tester to checked out by Martindale and have it calibrated. This would means I would have to be slightly out of action as I cannot perform safety checks.

I don’t get mine calibrated. I just try it on a selection of resistors from time to time and if the reading is correct that’s enough to put my mind at rest.
Have you tried e-bay? There are some mega deals on s/h testing equipment on there usually. Pun entirely intended. 😳
