To clarify, a chairman for the WTA who solely works for the WTA is an ideal but not a deal breaker, its just my idealistic opinion, not me saying that unless it happens i wont join, i was merely trying to answer another posters question.
As Ken has previously said some of us are not so good at writing these replys as others so sometimes i dont get my point across, and as i was lambasted for not answering questions i am trying to where possible answer.

Trouble with that is, whoever was recruited to ‘Chair’ the TA in a full time employed roll, he / she IMO wouldn’t have the passion, desire or drive that I know for a FACT that the WTA Council members have. Even if funds were of plenty, and we could afford 100K per year to have someone in such role (Take in to account salary, car, fuel, hotel bills, IT costs etc), we’d need to find a mighty special person that would give it 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} even though it’s his ‘Job’ and it doesn’t directly affect him if the TA make grounds or not.
Personally, I think the handful of us with the help of some pro active members, are doing things just right!
I’ve made no secret to anyone that I’d like to see you as a member, because although things might get mis-understood between us, I think you’d be an asset to have as a member. You’re clearly desperate to see a better future for this trade, and although I might not agree with everything you say, that IMO has to be respected.
I think it’d be a good idea for you to send me or Lawrence a list of objections, ideas and / or solutions to issues so as Lawrence said, we can take what you say in to consideration next week whilst all together, and reply to everything in one hit. Or if you fancy hopping on a plane, come and join us for the day!
Ade.

Now here’s the deal….I will stump up DrDill’s joining fee to the WTA. I think at this point he would be a valued member to the organisation because he sure is creating hell for himself by being on the outside. Let’s turn reactive into proactive….please guys if only for my sake.
So, I vote DrDill a new member to the WTA…? Those against….?
(Invoice me on successful completion Lawrence….you know my address.)
Yours sincerely

Martin that is very magnanimous of you ,however from what I can see Dr Dill doesn’t want to join until we have certain things in place being .1.pre vetting members beyond the criteria already in place -not going to happen .
2.Independent chairman – not a deal breaker but preferable-again can’t see it happening
So that means that there is no where else to go as far as I can see,so the WTA will continue what it has set out to do,and Dr dill will continue to say what he says .
I for one hope he will be at the meeting though ,along with yourself as I have never had the privilege of actually meeting you .

Nice try martin, the lenths some people will go to to see me in a costume!
Aidrian if i thought that i would be of benifit to the WTA i would take up your offer, but although i think i am right on some issues i would be a right pain in the arse and would drag you all backwards! Besides the possible fact that Ken would be on murder charge after killing me after the first pint!

In some ways, that’s a good thing! 🙂
The point is, if you spent a day with us locked in a room, I’m sure we’d all leave singing off the same hymn sheet. Some things are better debated face to face and escapes all of the risk of ‘Forum Fights’ due to mis-understandings / mis-readings etc…
Seriously DrDill, if you can spare a day or two, give me a ring, I’ll fill you in on the timings etc, and come join us for the day.
If after that, you still can’t see the benefit of the WTA to its members and see that quite a lot of hard work is being done in the shadows to try make things better in the ‘Long Term’, then I give up and I’ll not try to encourage you to be a part of it again!
Ade 🙂

I’ve been thinking about this.
Forum Fights are great!
Sorry Ade, but they get results. The truth will out as they say. So long as it’s a sensible conversation and doesn’t degenerate into a slagging match.
However I do accept that an online debate isn’t the ideal vehicle for a lot of people and, that’s fine with me.
So DrDill, since you clearly have a copy of the WTA report to the OFT and you have a couple of issues with that among other things I’ll tell you what, throw me the topics you want to take up and I’ll prep and debate it in Coventry with you.
If you’re serious about having an open debate on the likes of trade pricing discrimination, accreditation, how a TA works and whatever else, I’m game. Online or offline.
I can’t speak for the TA people, I only consult and do a bit of admin for them, but I’m sure that they are equally as comfortable with either.
What has been said previously by a couple of people is totally correct though IMO, whether or not the discussion is positive or negative, it has value so long as it’s not just an outright slagging match. Which is why I pressed you for the reasoning behind your comments, without any substance or explanation they hold no value, they have to be understood in order to be of any use either way.
If I appeared harsh, sorry it wasn’t the intention. The intention was to understand and to allow the people reading this and other threads to do so.
In short, the floor is yours. You have the opportunity to voice your opinion as much as you like.

Lawrence, you stated this:-
1.pre vetting members beyond the criteria already in place -not going to happen .
I am sorry that is pretty negative, if the WTA membership decided that the criteria included this then surely it is the membership that decides these things?

Oh… 🙁
Well my reasoning was simple, that you’d then be ‘on the inside’ so to speak. Your recent public outburst enquiring over the WTA report to the OFT would have been there for you, as a member, to see in the first place as a privileged fully paid up member.
By being on the inside you could question to your hearts content all you like about such things as DEG‘s, COP‘s, OFT‘s, DTI‘s, AGM‘s and even SUB‘s. After all it would be your right as a member to demand answers and even provide solutions.
I can only see this as a positive move for you to make. Meanwhile we’ll keep a light on for you in this thread, can’t say fairer than that now can I? 😀

Sorry let me put that statement into context ,If someone that was considering becoming a member of the WTA was to put certain pre requisites in the way of joining such as, it was a requirement that every member had to be visited, test equipment evaluated, previous customers contacted to gauge customer satisfaction, insurances inspected waste liscences mandatory so old parts can be recycled not go to landfill , then there is no way that we could change the criteria to suit them .You are right the membership at the AGM can bring forward anything they wish ,but remember that the organising team are elected by the body so there must be an element of trust that they have the members best interests at heart .
Now to be blunt (not Rude) you are not A WTA member so any further information required I require in writing either through Admin or through the address published ,I will personally deal with them and reply in due course
This is the last I will say in this thread re the WTA,any WTA members that want to discuss further I will gladly talk on the WTA forum

Martin, yes i think you are right, for me to have a greater value in my “rants” i need to be on the “inside”, i have therefore requested a membership pack.
I have listened to all the replies to my “rants” and this i suppose is the right thing to do even though i will still have issues, but then again i disagree with some of the motoring laws but i havnt handed in my liscenece!January 18, 2011 at 9:17 am #341224DrDill
