ParticipantBuilt in fan assisted oven. About 8 yrs old.
It works for bit then cuts out and it’s got a funny smell. I changed fuse on Friday and it was working but it’s gone again today.
Any ideas? Worth fixing?

A make and model would help Nick.
But it does sound like a problem with the cooling fan or fan control thermostat.

Here’s a pic of the label on by the door, with the model and PNC:
Hope this helps.
Have found on another page that it might be the Thermal Cut Out unit. Should I give it a go replacing it?

Okay, found it.
There’s a cooling fan and a fan control stat in that model, that’s it really for that side of things.
It’s possible that it’s the thermostat that’s the problem but the symptoms you describe are more consistent with the cooling fan failing or failed and the thermostat doing its job and shutting the oven down.
The cooling fan is here so you know what to look for:

Where roughly on the oven would it be? Would it be as simple as it would be to change that Thermal cut out unit, ie pull it out a bit and take the top off??

Hi
There is a thermal cut out which has 2 white wires and 2 blue wires that are in a plastic tube normally on the left middle towards the front. This will have normally failed if the fan had previously gone. It senses the temprature and cut off if it gets too hot or thinks it has.
