ParticipantElectrolux E0B 944 tripping out. More advice needed pls
Hi.
I posted this in the GENERAL section last week, but this seems to be a busier place, so reposting here in the hope of more help.
Built in fan assisted oven. Electrolux E0B 944. About 8 yrs old.
It works for bit then cuts out and it’s got a funny smell. I changed fuse on Friday and it was working but it’s gone again today.
Any ideas? Worth fixing?

It was suggested I replace the COOLING FAN MOTOR, which I did, and although the surround is now cooler, it is still tripping after 15 minsutes or so.
It has also been suggested I change the thermostat, but would appriciate a link to a specific product, if anyone can suggest one.

I don’t think so…. eek
Earlier in this thread someone said
There’s a cooling fan and a fan control stat in that model, that’s it really for that side of things.
Is that the fan control stat you linked to?

No that fan control stat isn’t used in that oven, it’s a different one but I don’t have access to the info here on the one that is used.
I’ll get Dave to have a look and post the right one or try to remember to do it when I get into the office tomorrow.

more likely to be the element. the element is basically a length of wire incased in chalk and wrapped in an outer metal case. Often the chalk will either start to break down or absorb moisture giving a path to earth. Its not unusual for a cold element to test fine and yet show a consideably reduced insulation reading when hot.

Do you have a link to a specific product I could buy that would fit the unit?

DST3871425108 is the part number for a genuine part but an equivelent pattern part would be much cheaper just rattle the model number and fan element into google you’ll get the part no prob

Hi
Just a question..
Does the WHOLE oven cut off as in no power,no display or is it that the cooling fan stops or the element stops ?

em that could be different I read that as ” tripping out ” and its cutting out. Could well be your variable thermostat

UPDATE:
So I’ve changed the internal COOLING FAN, and it is still tripping.
It’s CUTTING ALL POWER when it trips.
So could it be the ELEMENT that is faulty, or the thermostat???

You’d need to megger the elements to test for leaks to earth Nick. 😕
If it’s really bad just seeing if you get anything between the live and neutral posts with even a basic multi-meter might work but, it’s got to be really bad to see that.
