ParticipantEven seen some folks putting kitchen foil on the wire shelves…….
Would this cause a failure?
My Smeg UK80MFX has stopped working – no light, no fan, no heat.
What should I check first? I’ve unplugged, reset clock, does not say A for automatic cooking??

No, the foil wouldn’t normally cause total oven failure, it restricts the air flow around the oven among other things thus reducing the element’s lifespan. But, you would still have the fan etc running if this had happened, just no heat.
If you’re totally sure that the clock is set to manual then it’s engineer time on one of these to be honest.
Check Repairs@ for one 🙂

Thanks Dave,
I’ve investigated further and posted a new topic regarding switch failure, which I’m sure you’ll see soon! Thanks

I have a similar problem with a DIPLOMAT APL 3201. The oven isn’t heating and nor id the element for the grill (are they part of one and the same bit?)… do I need a new element or two new ones? Can someone advise me, please, on what I need and where to get them from? Thanks. Andrew

If the whole thing is dead, it’s more likely that either the clock is not set to manual, or that the safety cut-out has tripped.
Power off, if investigating.

Many apologies for reviving this long-dead thread, but could you tell me if the fan oven element at the link you mentioned, http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Cooker+{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} … ement.html, would work in the Diplomat APL 3301/3 as well? I see it listed for the 3201.
Many thanks!

That is the correct element for your appliance.
