    Helping the general public out ‘in forum’ is a fascinating challenge that tests the patience and resolve of many to the limit…….

    Enter IADOM (It, All, Depends, On, Me) aka Sailor Jim

    His knowledge of all things Hotpoint is legendary. He has forgotten more about Hotpoint appliances than even the most experienced of us would ever have known. He has single-handedly resolved legions of public enquiries on every single issue that the Hotpoint can create. Seemingly impossible problems the public have been faced with have been quickly and effectively remedied by Jim.

    He has dealt with the knowledgable and the nut cases without discrimination. Just stuck in there and seen their problems, from trauma to successful resolve, as a matter of course. A thankless pleasure just to volunteer his services.

    As he reaches his ‘golden years’ I for one would like to thank him for, well, simply just lending a hand. He has helped us all over the years and continues a pace.

    Join me in observing a typical punter who has a problem Hotpoint (seemingly clueless and has a very odd aversion to our much loved Royal Mail parcel service) who has sought Jim’s help…….let’s see what develops?

    Just as a reminder for those that think that stuff like that is mental and, it absolutely is at times…

    There’s a whole bunch of the public that think you guys are great and it puts a whole different light on the people in this industry from the public’s typical opinion and/or perception of it from the outside.

    Some probably even think you’re up for sainthood soon.

    Mental perhaps. Admirable, absolutely. At times desperately frustrating, most certainly. But maybe not so mad.

    Well if the Catholic clergy can vote in another saint of two then why not?

    i once had a 10 mile return journey to b&q to buy a y piece for a customer so they could have dishwasher and washing machine of same cold fill.

    now thats going the extra mile – im sure you would all agree ..

    Hope his missus ain’t getting at him too much. He could’ve walked to Emw in all this time and saved using our wonderful Royal Mail 🙂

    As promised CHRISX is on the case. I did chuckle over him not being able to take a photo of the PCB. But now he has gone for the EMW option….hallelujah!

    Stay tuned to the next exciting instalment…..

    Will the module come undamaged?
    How will he manage to plug it in not knowing where the wires go?
    Will Forum Rule 8 be applied?

    Well if he is to be believed he should be capable,

    I am a Heating Engineer / Gas Engineer / Plumber qualified in all of these trades so I am well used to repairing Boilers and other Gas appliances which have PCB`s – I am able to work safely on Electrical components / appliances because I also have Electrical qualifications related to my trades – Defined Scope Part P Electrical Installation for Heating appliances.

    Still can’t fathom how he manages to do that work and yet maintains his fingers are to fat to allow him to change a poxy 50p capacitor. :eeek:

    I read his 1st paragraph of the latest instalment and had to have a lay down. So glad he doesn’t live in my area would dread that job

    The reservations I have about this we gave him too much information. He should have been told it was a board fault only and then told where to get one from ie EMW or Hotpoint.If he had problems with Royal Mail that was his problem to sort out.Reading the posts I had the nagging feeling it was a troll, if he really is a heating engineer he will have had plenty of board faults(the cost of which can be eye watering).Every time a way was given to him he had an objection, trying to put the onus onto UKW. If he is for real I bet We haven’t heard the last of him.
