if anyone wants a google map local business listing let me know , i will if i can personally create a listing for you. pm me your buis details tel no address and radios covered from postcode, what you repair brands etc ..and if you have pictures you want shown – steady only business pics re van signs etc ..
ps this doesnt cost anything – just a bit of time .. how cool would it be to get all ukw members on google maps ..
we have all seen on here what collective cooperation achieves – every one on google maps receiving extra work or passing it on can only be a huge benefit

….the only caution being anyone trading from home must ensure first they don’t fall foul of their local authority snoopers. Google Maps is the ideal medium for council officials checking if someone is operating a commercial enterprise without the appropriate ‘planning approval’. 😯

Unbelievable, some one wants to do something for others and you get someone else who can only think of posting a negative. Dont worry about trading from home, as long as you dont have customers calling and storing massive amounts of business items and deliveries by massive trucks, you will not fall foul of any laws or council bylaws, i know as i have been there and confirmed no problems.
Fantastic offer for everybody from funkyboogy.

As I said in my first post on the subject in agreement with Bob the Samuri.:D
Perhaps rather than me making just a simple 2 word “Me too!” comment I should have elaborated. So, to make up for lost time, here goes :-
I’ve enjoyed the benefit of being on ‘Google Maps’ since 2009.
I regard it as a fantastic new medium.
I receive ‘stats’ from ‘Google Maps’ each month on the word search ‘hits’ my listing achieves.
It’s wonderful that I can describe my business, show my trading hours and even include a photo of my van. (though I need to up-date that pic as I replaced it last year).
….and all this for FREE….!!jeremy wrote:Why the negativity Martin ffs !
If, offering a word or two of caution is considered “negative” then I’m guilty as charged. Can’t find the thread right now but there was a guy (last year I think?) that ran foul of the local planning department. But hey! missplaced sentiment on my part for which I apologise to one and all. 🙁

probably the engineers brain martin – thinking about any possible issue etc.
on a positive note lawrence has now raised his profile on google.. 😀
a word of caution dont mess about editing your listing to much – as google doesnt like this -and they end up posting your pin number instead of txting etc ..which can take 2-3 weeks ..
their is a lot of good tips on youtube on how to optimise your listing with keywords etc ..
best one is to put your picture up – customer really like to see whos coming – videos are great as well
try and get customers to REVIEW your listing– services as this really boosts your listing ..most seo guys will admit reviews carry the most weight ..
their is nothing stopping each of us doing a review on each others listing .
i for one was happy to receive a spare part from Lawrence and now i know has has a google listing i may just leave him a nice review..

google local maps is a huge weapon for in-dependants
just imagine how the marketing manager of a big national feels who are paying through their teeth to dominate and be on the top of page 1 when they see little johnny with his local google business listing right beside them for nothing zippo free of charge.. little johnny must be pi&&Sing himself
come on guys every one should have a google local listing.how long did it take lawrence .. 20 mins tops i bet , now you will be on page 1 of google for 20 mins work ..
rev google has spoken – now my flock go and multiply

search term cooker repairs Ipswich – guess what
lawrence .. page one right at top
just underneath the sponsored adds you know the ones who have to pay.
for anyone who cant be bothered or doesnt think that google maps wont work for them – here is factual proof .
30 minutes of your time will get you on page one of google and more importantly swing the balance of cash-omers back to the indies ..
level playing field – what level playing field

I have also have had good results from google maps and had assumed it was the result of signing up and ticking the right boxes.
However, I am currently being hounded by the Thomson Local rep to renew my ad with them and he is telling me that Thomson supplies business info to google maps and without my thomson’s internet package I would slip down the google listings!
Before I tell him where to get off I thought I would check with you guys.
Any thoughts?

Hi Ron
Are you coming to the meeting on the 24th
I can show you lots of ways to keep you at the top of the Google search list and most major search engines without paying to advertise.
This can lead to you being listed more than once on the list.
Also anyone else at the meeting I can pass on tips so you are on the list more than once so it looks as if you are the main business to call.

Yes Ron, I just checked out your listing on Google Maps. You’re on there as you rightly say and all you need to do is sign on with Google Maps and ‘tweek’ your site. (Stick in a lot about your business and include a photo of your van , or whatever)…:D
Oh! And ditch Thomson Local, they still do FREE listings so you’ll be in their directory anyway.
HTH? 😛
Edit: Just noticed you’ve knicked my desperate lady drawing and put it on your web site. …..nice one! 😆
