hi ron i wouldn’t think Thomson local can do anything to affect your local listing.. ask the rep to write to you and explain – bet he wont , as bob says -come along and speak to guys that are doing this already 4 free – maybe we need to start a marketing group-forum thingy .?
if you upload a photo make sure photo has tags with your keywords – another good way to put more keywords onto google for your listing..

Cheers for the info Ally, I have been on Google maps for a couple of years but no company info was on there it just appeared on there one day :con:
Strangely I had a few phone calls from a ‘Google partner’ last week offering to list my business on Google maps for a one off special price of 150.00 quid + VAT, after a haggle she offered it to me for 100.00 quid + VAT, I am so pleased I didn’t take her up on her offer 😆
I have now put some proper business info on there now, however I do have to wait a couple of weeks for a postal verification 😥 but still much better than parting with my hard earned cash

yip , dont know why they do postal verification – think its if you change to much info etc .. they want to verify you are at address listed.
but once you have all that – your laughing page 1 google .
more info to come if your at meeting re seo on google etc

Have a few minutes to spare so I thought I would set up a Google Places listing.
The only thing I am having problems with is getting it to accept a business category.
You have to start typing then select one from the list provided but there is nothing coming up on the list that makes sense, No Domestic appliances, no Washer repairs etc.
What have you entered in your category listing?
Jim.
EDIT. I had to use Engineer, couldn’t find Technician.

good tip is to tag all your photos with your key words .. upload photo , this way you have key search terms via your photos

Debatable. 😉
Many (most) SEOs will tell you it doesn’t count in the search algorithms.
