ParticipantWe’ve got a Grundig GTN39250CGCW tumble dryer. It’s just developed a problem where you set a program and press start and then it doesn’t actually start turning or drying. The panel thinks it is though and the timer ticks down as normal.
I’ve noticed that if you open the door it beeps and pauses the program, so the sensor is working I guess. Also the interior light doesn’t come on when the door is open.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Moderatordoes the drum start with a push ?
you need to take off the lid and push start then by just touching the drum push it and see if it revolves and keeps going

ParticipantThanks for the reply!
Strangely I left it off overnight and gave it another go this morning. It turned straight on! Could it be something in it is overheating?

Moderatorfirst try a load and see if it starts
if it does take the lid off and see if your getting steam in the case. i either use a pair of glasses or a mirror.just move them around and see if you get misting

ParticipantCan I bring this thread back to life please?
My Grundig tumble dryer is presenting the same issue. It has gradually got worse. Choose a program and press start and nothing mechanically happens but the display says the program is running. It has also stopped running part way through a program more recently. It used to work after a while or the next morning. But recently I have come to try it in the morning after a good 10 hours idle and it still doesn’t work.
I will remove the lid and try the steam searching test. Could it be a software glitch? Is it possible to perform a reset?
Thanks

Moderatordoes sound like a timer or possibly a door issue
try opening and closing the door a few times

ParticipantThanks. Will try this also but we will have to get someone out to it now as it is so bad we can hardly use it

ParticipantFurther update. When i choose a program and press start. The machine at times will immediately spring in to life and complete the program or more often than not, will do nothing whilst the timer ticks down. 5 to 10 minutes pass and the machine springs in to life. It may then complete the program or run for a random amount of time and then stop running whilst the timer continues to run. It may run again … and so on.
Sensor issue? I don’t think it is a door issue as the timer would stop and the program would be paused which isn’t happening. Also when you open the door mid program (running or not) the alert sounds and the program pauses.
I have an engineer booked in tomorrow.

ParticipantAnyone find out what was causing this problem? Happened to ours as well – a few weeks after it’s 5-year warranty expired – it’s like it was programmed to self-distruct
