KeymasterThe WMV is in the downloads section. 😉
No website to my knowledge was ever created. Judy was in touch but no definitive result as yet.

Just watched the video, that’s bad.
Didn’t expect it to be like that,
Did anyone ever conclude which component caused the fire, whether it’s a one off?
I also agreed with all Judy’s points on Whirlpool testing them all out!
🙄
Hmm….
Would have been interesting to see where this went though.

Every householder’s nightmare. I hope everything works out o.k but felt forensics should have been more specific rather than just more or less saying that it originated from the appliance which you and the fire brigade knew already.
I wonder who installed the appliance as I also have Whirlpool appliances although the dryer is not a condenser type like this one but I think my one had polystyrene packaging that had to be removed.
Just pointing out that if the retailer did not install on their behalf then an excuse such as this (regardless if packaging in this appliance or not) may be used to try to wriggle out of responsibility.
Looking at the picture it would appear that the fire started at the lower front of the machine (just first impressisons and opinion only). Where is the heater located on this machine? or is it at the rear as in my one.
One last point is in my opinion the retailer purchased the appliance from the manufacturer a brand new sealed BSI approved equipment for sale to the general public and as such if a manufacturer’s defect caused this then the resposibility should lie solely with the manufacturer.
A similar thing can be said for repairing equipment but in this case the repair man can be liable ONLY if it was not left in an as new condition (ignoring the dents or scratches) with manufacturer’s approved only parts.
Beware guys as a finger may be pointed if a pattern part fitted regardless of cause.Good luck with your claim.

Even though now we know nothing else, personally Whirlpool are becoming extremely cheap. They can’t even admit that their dryer has caught fire when firemen confirmed it, Judy confirmed it, forensics say a faulty part was present, all the evidence is there, maybe she should take them to court. This was entirely Whirlpool’s fault, and they know it, so they need to sort this out properly, not start saying “The dryer was off, yes it was faulty, but it was off” but by watching the video, the dryer seemed to be badly damaged, like the front panel was ripped off, so it is purely logical the fire ripped through it.
