Dave, I’ll take that kit off you and I can always source the bolts elsewhere if necessary. the site may even have them?

Took the lid off and the drum is decidedly twisted to left hand side!

After a bit of a struggle I’ve managed to fit the new anti twist kit and new brushes.
I have the feeling that I have done something wrong when replacing the brushes.
Stupidly, I took the old ones out before the new ones arrived, so I may have done something wrong?
When the machine tries to engage the motor there is a noise like a Drrrrr Drrrr and no sign of life from the motor. There may have been a slight spark around the brushes but it’s difficult to see.
the drum and motor both turn freely by hand.Hopefully, I have just fitted the brushes incorrectly, have any of you experts any suggestions and hopefully just tell me that I have done something daft?
I wouldn’t like to think it was a bin job after all this work! :eeek:

I checked the new carbon brushes and discovered that one was only just touching the armature and the other wasn’t touching at all. They were a wee bit tight, so I rubbed them down with emery paper and resolved that problem. Armature was a bit grey and manky so I cleaned that. The noise has now gone but the motor will barely turn and smells a bit hot.
Do you think the motor is knackered?June 16, 2016 at 8:17 pm #438231electrofix

the wire on the brush where have you put it ?
a lot of people put it on the field coil by mistake and there is a terminal on the brush holder

Not sure how to describe it Dave,
One brush only has one terminal, the other one two that appear to be bridged.on that side I have 4 terminals two are occupied and the middle 2 are bridged. I have the brush connected to the right hand one.
