ParticipantWhat’s the general consensus on these among the engineers?
We’re being ‘hassled’ to sell them, by the Hotpoint reps, and there’s just something ‘wrong’ with them, but i can’t see what!
Probably the badge on the front, although, when the cheapest Miele is £10 more, people normally go for the Hotpoint!
😈

Saw the Aqualtis advert on TV tonight and thought both the advert and the machine was hideous. Mind you I think that of 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of TV advertising :?.

The Aqualtis, any but I’ve found them on their site now, I wanted to see if they were on Partfinder…
A couple are and guess what ?
Ariston electronics and worst of all a sealed tub, on a machine in this price range that’s really going to annoy people when the bearings fail and they get told they have to have a whole tub/drum unit at £113 ex VAT (plus labour) 😯

They all start AQXXL (what a bloody wierd model number?)
The bearings are probably going to be prone to failure too, due to the load and tilted drum, more stress? or am i barking up the wrong tree?
Also, the panel on the door, the cabling runs through the hinge, that looks like another potential problem waiting to happen.
Oh, and they look awful, too.

AQ – Aqualtis, XXL/D in reference to the load size and or tub group used I should imagine.
There’s no way to know about bearing reliability without knowing more about what’s on the inside of the machine. I am a bit concerned about this trend towards sealed tanks though.
Cabling in the door I should think shouldn’t be too much of an issue as they’ve all been doing that with dishwashers for years and they seem okay now. Certainly we get a lot less call to change or repair harnesses now.
The electronics in the door look awfully close to that dispenser though, if there’s a way for water to find its way in there that could be a problem with a blocked dispenser or hose.
The look of the machine is a subjective thing and I suspect that this is aimed at the techno junkie, looks that way from the control panel and colour choices. Although watching some of the videos on the Hotpoint site I was a bit dismayed to see that they appear to show the machine jam packed full.
That said, at least they are trying to do something different and raise the retail prices a bit, I still think it’s too cheap as a quick search online shows you can get the base model from about £320 up to about £470 for the top one listed. Amazing though that one single part can cost more than 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the replacement cost don’t you think?

I wonder if the ‘Thermal Door Lock’ has the same inherent problems as the previous ranges? Or maybe is just catches fire when it fails? It certainly looks more complex than earlier ones?

I`ve sold 3 so far and customers seem to like the easy logic of left to right on the controls, larger door opening and the super silent spin. Nice earner too as I have been lucky enough to have sold the 1400 and the 1600 spin models so far. Nice thing about the price is, Hotpoint are not giving the “net” companies any further discount so at least on that range of appliances it`s a level playing field.

Large 7.5kg load capability , 1600rpm spin and Ariston electronics , now there`s a recipe for all sorts of failure.
Raising the retail prices should work in our favour but only if the product is more reliable long term , otherwise customers will be even more disillutioned and revert to the cheapo mentality.I see they`re continuing with the 5 year parts guarantee , I suppose they can always bump up the £90 odd call out fee if neccessary .
