    Hello,
    (model no.wm65s)
with the last 5 washes I have done , there is a banging noise in the spin cycle it seems to wash and rinse OK, I have levelled it with a spirit level and still does this. The loads have been different and still banging as if its an uneven load. when spinning the drum by hand it seems not noisy and smooth. Can someone help with any known issues either in general or with this model, ? thanks very much

yer spring on the top will be broken…. sure as eggs are eggs

power off.. lid off.. 1 spring from front to concrete block,1 from back to concrete block .. usually the front one snaps

    hope this helps

Is there any play in the drum at all?

Possible broken spider or collapsed bearings, hardly uncommon on these machines.

Never changed front spring always rear one as its made of thinner steel. Turn drum by hand if it rumbles its bearings drum support could other possibility

Hello, cheers for replies .. no , there is no play in the drum and no rumbling when revolving the drum by hand.. I have just done a cycle without clothes and when at certain speed (spin) it kicks in with the banging noise.

Do you live in a soft water area, use liquid detergent or wash everything at low temperatures. If so then kwatt is on the right line with the snapped drum support, if it was the bearings it would not turn smoothly. open the door and rotate the inner drum until each of the moulded drum paddles or ribs is at six o’clock, grip the drum with both hands and pull forwards. If the drum moves towards you and away from the plastic outer drum then you have a snapped drum support.

A good chance the heating element will be damaged as well.

and to add… I had the top off when it was washing the last time , and the spin itself from the outside is smooth , and the sound coming from inside the drum itself , and not from the whole thing moving about as it stays fairly still when spinning. .. thanks very much.. any help is appreciated

Change top springs on a ratio of 4 to 1 in favour of rear spring. The thicker front spring used on later production doesn’t go as often but it does still fail.
If the rear spring goes and is not replaced it usually does the door seal in first, then blows the door lock, taking out the timer. I have seen front spring failure lead to timer failure as well when the spring has shorted against the pressure switch wiring.

hello , cheers , I have just pulled the inner drum forwards from six o’clock position of each of the three paddles and each time it seems like there is no play and it just moves forward on the springs, moving the whole drum forward ,and seems solid and connected. ( I do a lot of 40 degree washes and use power and liquid in the ball dispenser mostly.)

You could also check the lower concrete balance weight, this can come loose, if the nuts are left loose for any length of time it will permanently damage the outer drum.

It could also be coins or similar inside the outer drum.

Run your finger along each side of the three ribs in the drum, if it is smooth on the left side of each rib but rough and dented on the right side then you may have a foreign body in between the drums.

Hello, re :”Run your finger along each side of the three ribs in the drum, if it is smooth on the left side of each rib but rough and dented on the right side then you may have a foreign body in between the drums. ” –

I am not quite sute what you mean here but i have pushed finger into the only area that i can think of …the rubber surround at the front , under each rib and cant feel any abnormality , seems smooth.
Regards the concrete vlock , I have taken off the bottom rear panel and it seems secure and bolted on…. the mystery continues although not sure if I have checked foreign body in drum correctly…….
