ParticipantHi, first post hope this is OK.
The dryer appears fine whilst spinning clockwise, as soon as it starts spinning anti clockwise it starts loudly clicking/knocking.
Its the same if hand turned, albeit slower and quieter. There’s isn’t much more resistance felt when turning anti clockwise.
Does this point to anything in particular? If so is it worthwhile replacing or just finding a new dryer?
Many thanks for your time

Could be the plastic jockey pulley although as it now only has one pulley it should be noisy in both directions.
Access from right hand side (from front) to inspect.

Many thanks for the reply.
When you say access from the front, do I need to remove the door and front metal casing to do so? Or the lower plastic front where the condenser element fits through?

No the right side as you look at it from the front

Hi, it is the small black jockey pulley, it has a piece missing.
Looks like a fairly easy fix, just a circlip to remove and slide off.
Thanks again for the advice guys.

Not that easy, pulley comes complete with mounting.
in fact quite a difficult job if you don’t know what you are doing.February 7, 2014 at 1:42 pm #409117Goggles

That’s the part. It can be tricky. Both fans off. I remove motor 3 of the motor fixing bolts then fit pulley.

Thanks have ordered from the ukwhitegoods shop.
Is there anywhere I can get a diagram of the motor and if ING points etc that have to be removed?
Not sure how long it’ll take to arrive, the missis isn’t happy without the drier!

No need to remove the rear fan at all, or loosen any motor screws. 😉
Lie on left hand side, prise off the inner fan housing cover and remove the inner fan, this allows plenty of room to get at the two bolts. Replace pulley and then by whatever means and brute force you can, lever the belt back over the pulley.
Take careful note of which way the belt sits on the pulley as well.

That’s the way I do it. Dead easy then to get the belt back on

It’s just that you mentioned removing ‘both’ fans and loosening motor screws Andy????

That’s what I meant. I remove both fans just makes it easier to refit belt imo. I suppose we all have different ways
