    Hi there

You guys helped me way back in 2004 with my last dishwasher – can you help again?

My Hotpoint SDW 60 is flashing an error code under the Eco button – I think that counts as LED 3 (I’m assuming I only count the green programme lights, not the red rinse aid light to the left). The dishes look half rinsed but the tablet is still in the dispenser. There’s no standing water. Switching off and on makes no difference.

From what I’ve found online, I think that LED 3 may mean ‘overflow or overfilling’ – I don’t think the plates were well scraped tonight, could that have something to do with it?

Is there anything I can do to tackle this myself, please?

Hi, LED 3 (eco) is an F01 fault, water in base, take out plug, pull machine out, tip back & you’ll see water coming out from back, really need a test meter puttin on it then to check motor has not been soaked, or left for a day to dry out, may be a one off but if it does it again would need a close look as to where the water is coming from

Thank you so much for a reply!

We’ll try that and I’ll let you know how we get along.

What would happen if it wasn’t full dried out at the point we gave it a try? 😯

We’ve tipped, we’ve mopped – we’re waiting for it to dry.

Can we at least switch it on – but not run it – and see if the error light comes on? Or do we just leave it untouched?

    The suspense is killing me…

Ok – the tip and reset didn’t work.

The chap from the reapirsatukwhitegoods nominated company has given us a quote for a new pump and pcb – £180 🙁

Do we repair our Hotpoint for £180 or buy a new dishywashy for £280? 😕

I can see lots of people have read this thread – opinions gratefully received from all comers!

Sorry – should have included that

    4 years old

I have no particular fondness for it, but we’ve got a tight budget, two small children and Christmas coming up – I have to think hard about coping short term as well as long-term investment…

Ring Hotpoint and take advantage of your five year parts warranty, it will cost you around £100 all in.

And don’t let them sell you the insurance policy on top!

    Ooh – there’s a good thought…

I can’t find any paperwork, though to prove when I bought the machine – eg registration docs. I can only find the instruction manual (but that is dated July 2004).

Well, I can ask – but I’ll want to make sure they’re not going to turn round and charge me the earth…!

And no way will I let them sell me any deals….

July 2004 is less than five years ago, 😉 if you can post up your serial number we should be able to date the machine for you.

😀 I didn’t know if the instruction manual would stand up to officialdom

    S/N is SDW60P 31716170

    BUT: –

Is it better to pay more to a ukwhitegoods affiliated repairman (who I trust) rather than pay less to a munchkin from Hotpoint (for whom don’t I have much respect)???

Date code 31 is July 2004.

Like most large concerns the Indesit Company may have one or two ‘munchkins’ but the vast majority of their engineers are very well qualified, conscientious people. Several of them take their time to answer questions on this very forum. (hotpnt for one)

Whilst I do not want to stand on anyones toes £180.00 for pump & module is considerably more than I would be charging for that job, but I would still not be able to do it for less than Indesit’s call out charge.

PS. Methinks an apology would be in order Cloviscat. 😉

    Jim.

Alas, the problems caused by doing such a poor job of expressing oneself… 😳

I apologise most sincerely if I have caused offence to anyone – please believe it was inadvertant.

When I used that unfortunate word ‘munchkin’ I meant someone who is part of a big company – someone who I may only ever see once and who may be more restrained by a company policy. I did not mean it to reflect upon their training, reliability, or any other fine characteristics.

Hope this clears up my foolishness, and explains my point better: I value the personal touch of smaller businesses, but don’t know if that counts enough in this situation.

    😳 and again 😳
