ParticipantAm I right in thinking you can’t buy a bearing kit for this model? Do you have to fit a WMA half drum and WMA spider? This is my first bearing job on one of these machines and I was feeling quite pleased about how much quicker you can get the tub out compared to a WMA but then I was disappointed to find my stock of WMA bearings won’t fit. 🙁

Hi, the same rear half is used on wma and wf, the difference is in the electronics, its the same bearing kit also, what seems to not fit with the bearings?

Rear half has a different PN on Partfinder. 1603409 was/is the trade WMA rear half. Partfinder shows WF430 with 1605082 as rear half kit, unless that kit includes the heater and pegs etc. Still lists the same bearing kit as WMA though.
EDIT. If you punch in 1603409 it lists it as fitting the WF430 so I guess the 1605082 is the full kit. 🙂

There is a smaller bearing assembly fitted to some models, never actually seen one yet but it normally lists both alternatives on PF if they are used.

The bearings are 6205 & 6206, this is the seal (sorry it’s out of focus I tried twice but the autofocus must aim at somewhere other than the centre of image):

As I said, the old bearings are 6205 & 6206 with the small seal shown in the photo. My 1004473 bearing kit is 6206 & 6207 with a bigger seal. The customer was not willing to pay extra for a half drum + spider so it was another abortive attempt at earning a crust 🙁

For future reference, the 30mm bearing kit is part number 1604600 🙂

Thanks Dave. I see it’s about twice the price of the WMA kit and yet the bearings are smaller. At least the broken front bearing comes out easier than the WMA type.

Is there a rear drum half complete with the smaller bearings?
Just been to a WF440 with a rather large hole in rear half, machine only 16 months old, it has the smaller bearings so a 1603409 will not fit. Do I have to change rear half & drum support for larger type. ❓
Also noticed that the complete drum assembly with the smaller bearings is much lighter than the earlier one. The balance weights appear to be larger to compensate. Would fitting the earlier large drum support & bearings not compromise the weight/suspension?
