I have done loads of the original WMA type drums, knew about the use of smaller bearings but this is the first one I had encountered. I noticed the significant weight difference as soon as I lifted the drum assy to remove it.

I’ve done 3 of these ‘upgrade’ jobs. Normal WMA drum half will mate perfectly with the front half of the 30mm drum. (Note: Entering the model number of the 30mm machine, Connect show no 30mm parts; their subtext says you should use earlier 35mm drum half and spider). I always keep a s/hand tub half just in case.
No fitting problems, no compatability issues – and the drum sits perfectly in the cabinet. 8) All three working sweetly!
A first for Merloni – something available that actually improves the machine!!HTH,
Steve.
P.S. 1604600 – that’s the first time I’ve been able to find the 30mm kit on Connections – and not for the want of trying! :rolls:

I always have a couple of complete WMA drums and did end up sticking one in this machine, I just wanted to see if I could get a rear half to repair this one without using a new drum support. it did appear to sit fairly central and I would have cracked the job but for the F01 error that came up when I tried to run the machine. Although the leak was quite bad due to a very large hole in the drum, there was no sign of the water getting anywhere near the motor or module, the hole was way over the other side. Motor looks perfect and module is now with EMW for testing. I suspect that the drum may have jammed for a short time, possibly causing module damage. Time will tell.

Looking at the Masterpart site there were indeed two versions of the weights but it looks like the earlier bottom one is no longer available. Both top ones are available though and the earlier one is not shown as fitting the WF models. I have got both types of bottom weight and it seems to me that the weight is concentrated further back on the later version.
