There are three different makes of motor fitted to a WMA52. 😕
1603910 is a FHP motor
1604462 is a BOSCH motor
1604470 is a CESET motorOctober 14, 2008 at 8:28 am #265083bubs

Thanks Martin,
Now I am a little confused (as normal). My Hotpoint friend has given me the part no 1604572(c00202516) based on the serial no so i assume this is correct.
Your site is selling a 160411 listed as fitting a wma52, which is cheaper and in stock at Connect. Just wondered what the difference was an if you can fit either.
Thanks again

Made all the worse by my giving you duff information as the part no’s I quoted were for ‘Motor Brushes’…silly me 😳
So, to make amends here’s the correct info you need: –
1604116 (C00202063) Motor fits models b/4 date code 26
1604572 (C00202516) Motor fits models after date code 25Sorry for mix-up. 🙁

Hi,
hijacking this old thread.
Same model and customer wants me to fit a FHP motor with an orange sticker and code 160201702. I have heard that some are for digital and some analogue, does this refer to timer as opposed to control panel lcd?
Will this one work?
Thanks

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wma52 motor

Thanks

ModeratorRe: hotpoint wma52 motor
All WMA’s are digitally controlled motors.
The earlier WM range with the separate module, either mounted on the side or the end of the old style control timers were analogue controlled. They had a larger tacho and different sized magnet.
THE WM machines with the hybrid timer unit has digitally controlled motors, either GDA or FHP motors.
The Hotpoint manuals give little or no information regarding individual motor label colours or any reference to the number you have given.
Usually, if you can see through into the end of the threaded motor shaft on the FHP motor it will be a digital one.
If there is a small adjusting screw in the end of the motor shaft it will be analogue. If it of any use these are the resistances of the motors fitted to WMA 52 machines.

ParticipantI am sure I have mixed up the WMA motors with no trouble. I remember fitting the Bosch style motor in replace of the FHP a few months ago.
(dont come for me if you hear a bang!)

The FHP. Bosch and CESET motors fitted as original equpiment to WMA machines are completely interchangable on machines of the same spin speed.

Thanks but I’m a bit confused now.
What’s a hybrid timer? This one has a combined timer module.
This is a WM52 not WMA.
The motor taken off is a 6 pin,4+2 and a small tacho.
The motor he wants me to fit is a 7 pin with black brushes and a small bolt through the tacho.
ThanksJanuary 27, 2010 at 9:42 am #265091helo_75
Participantcompletely different machines
wms are analogue, and have the motors at the top
wmas are digital and have the motor at the bottomJanuary 27, 2010 at 9:46 am #265092RocketMan

Yep,
Just noted the heading 😳
All I need to know is will this motor work, is it worth a shot?
And now I know what a hybrid timer and the difference in analogue and digital.
ThanksJanuary 27, 2010 at 10:45 am #265094iadom

If your motor has the small bolt in the tacho end it is an analogue motor, it will not work on your WM52. The motor speeds will be way out and impossible to adjust.
If the field coil on the GDA motor is OK then why not fit an armature, ARM20 from Qualtex.

Thanks Jim, much obliged,
It’s the field coil that is o/c. Customer tried to fit his own brushes and blew it up, he said there was a big flash and he was left in darkness. Should have rung me in the first place.
Thanks again to all who replied.
Rob
PS armature at spares on here are cheaper 😉 -
