I have my job to value and trust nobody in these hard times. Telling about myself and who i work for to a total stranger (admin) with all due respect is not an option at this time thank you.

Trust works both ways, we have to trust you are who you say you are. Believe me the help available on the trade side is invaulable, we do have a fair number of various company engineers on the forums and their employers get no information about them from UKWG’s at all.

No, he doesn’t have to tell us.
It goes back to why plenty of us have silly user names…… The ONLY person who will see any trade access request is Site Admin and he ain’t going to say anything and he has been put under pressure in the past………
Couple of points, Lordhelpus – you’re already on the forum, so you’re visible – you can go into Profile and hide, so that no-one except the Mod/Admin team can see that you’re online. You can also ensure that your eMail address is not visible. But – bear in mind that in the Public Forums there are severe restrictions due to the forum rules as to just what we can tell you.
Nothing changes in the Trade Forums except that you will meet a different class of lunatic, whom you probably already know and can relate to. And, they probably will have the answer to your problem – a lot of the Trade lads won’t post in the Public forums; which is a whole different can of worms.
Put it this way, the day you need a wiring diagram, if you post in the Public Fourms, you’ll get FORUM RULES, no. /8 applies…….
Trust, it’s about trust. We’ll trust you not to be a company stooge, trust us to keep your identity as you wish it.

This site is not secure.but in spite of that your are happy luv admin has your personal info?
July 25, 2009 at 4:56 pm #292794helo_75
Participantyour starting to make yourself look like a paranoid delusionist
what do you think admin are going to do? email your employer?
dear xxxx
did you know your employee , lordhelpus is asking a question about a fan on a washer dryer? you should sack him immediatly!
get a grip.. its a quick check to ensure you are trade, and not a nosey member of the public looking for insider info
but thats fine, your not important enough to have any consideration for
your missing out, not me, and sarcasm isnt a route you want to go down, especially not with me
just consider, if your employers are so high profile, why havent you got access to any info at all about a simple hotpoint fan.. the answer to which i gave you very quickly?
so ill carry on bein a ‘happy luv’.. but next time your scratching your head looking at something someone in the trade forum may have a simple answer to, ill be on my next job!!
happy hunting

KeymasterRe: hotpointWD860 fan trouble
TBH, trade access requests can be sent to either admin@ or directly to me.
There are three people that see the admin emails, myself being one and there is little to no chance of anyone getting known without a court order telling me that I have to release that information. But, it’s destroyed, a case of burn after reading and I couldn’t tell you who worked for who most times, I don’t need to know that. All I have to do is verify the trade status.
If you’re not comfortable with that, it’s fine, I’ve no truck with it but I cannot and will not allow trade access without verification of trade status. End of.
If you’ve been threatened for posting on forums you have to wonder what sort of Draconian dictatorship you work for and, the one’s that I have known to do this are…
… ah, that would be naming names but I’d be willing to bet it’s a high street electrical retailer, one of two or three manufacturers or a certain well known energy supplier.
They’ve all banned their employees from posting on public forums and threatened instant dismissal if people are caught. Which I personally think is extremely unreasonable if you are not divulging sensitive business information. Even more unreasonable if you’re actually helping people that are customers of these companies.
You have to balance that against the help or information you may gain.
But hey, it’s up to you.
