Participantso long story short have a customer who is refusing to answer calls etc so need to go down route of writing letters etc to see if that makes any difference. i can only assume most of us have had this at some point how did you best resolve it?

Simple.
Send them notice of legal action if debt not paid.If still not paid then place into court but you need the christian name to log the action. If you can prove that you had authorisation to do the work and gave then notice concerning the work and if they paid by cheque which bounced then they don’t have a defence.
I’m sorry but I don’t take prisoners even if its less than £50 at the end of the day its your money not theirs.

Unfortunately some of them know exactly how to play the game. I’ve been down the court route before, got judgement but still didn’t see any money
Luckily it’s a very rare thingJanuary 19, 2016 at 3:57 pm #434618funbobby

yes i have her full name and funny thing is they certainly are not short of money! a lot of the time i agree to let people pay me by bank transfer depending on a gut feeling for customer but unfortunately ive been stung this time so will have to send a letter of court action. its so annoying because you trust people to do the right thing and some simply dont.i dont really want to get into taking card payments but im wondering if should now start.

Just got izettle for card payments and although I don’t use it a lot it’s saved me at least 4 times this last couple of months. If they don’t have cheque cash or card then I’m off

We have had write to off depts.
It would drive me mad, we allways tell customer our prices and we take cash or cheque but they would wait until we finished then say they have to go to the cash machine.
It’s better now we take cards, izettle is small and links to the phone.
We deal with a lot of letting agents and you have to accept they
Take up to 2 months to pay, most OK
But some would let some payments drag on for several months
Normally jobs we had to write off machine and landlords not so happy to pay.
So those agent we put our labour charge up £15 and in a box at bottom of invoice “reduced to ……. If we receive payment by (date 2 months time) it seems to be working.January 20, 2016 at 12:53 pm #434623funbobby

its annoying at 98{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time its fine but this one is a pain and living in a flat with no trade access i cant even go banging on the door which on rare occasions in the past have normally resolved it! like its been said they wait till after the repair to admiting they have no means of paying and i dont want to start asking up front

Oh dear, you can kiss goodbye then to this job paying up anytime soon. Flats, Council Houses, Shared accommodation, key left with neighbour or a quick favour for my mates mate are a no no without the security at least of card payment up front, during or before you leave the job.
Ain’t life a bitch, you can’t trust anyone can ya?

Just remembered I have an ongoing one with a blockage on an integrated Hoover wm. Took ages to get it out and unblock
Agent says tenant must pay, tenant says ( which I sort of agree with ) as there’s no accessible filter on this one how is he supposed to do it.
And good old me stuck in the middle
Think I’m going to email all agents and say it’s up to them to get payments from tenants in the futureJanuary 20, 2016 at 4:36 pm #434626Martin

Then you must remind the agent that the contract is with him NOT the tenant.

Every now and then when we get a couple of slow payers, as a business we start to think about refusing to go to constant offenders!
We always end up though biting our tongues when we look at the bigger picture .
People generally pay up it’s just that some like to choose the time themselves!!
We believe that is the flexibility our clients come back to us for !!!
I still hate that feeling though when they leave you dangling and I am with r600 .
I never give up regardless of the amount !January 29, 2016 at 8:31 pm #434628LJDomestics

Ive had only a couple of customers have me over luckily…
They leave you to fix their machine then say they dont get paid for another few days or something similar…What upsets me is the fact you lose a customer for future work although if they are playing dick turpin in their homes do you really want them to ring you again?
Ive had them also using the ” i need to go to the cash point” i have took them there a few times lol…
Unless im fixing for a letting agent or some other type of third party my attitude is…. your appliance is repaired..i aint leaving without payment simple as that!
P.s….. hey all…aint posted for a couple of year! Hope your all ok 🙂
