Online reviews are rather poor. 😥

Don’t waste your Hard earned cash Jim, from what i’ve seen they’re not much better than Mr Millers offerings used to be.

I wish someone would tell my missus, I have already told her they are poor.
I have spent over 40 years working in kitchens and have seen them all. :rolls:
That experience apparently counts for nothing,……………. women 😉

Mate, you should have learnt by now: We pay but were not supposed to have an opinion, they make the descisions (Or think they do) 😆
Seriously though, from what i’ve seen & no doubt you have, theyre poorly made / finished & if you let them fit them usually badly fitted as well.

Plus they fit some really good quality appliances. :rolls:

I think you’re being a little harsh here guys. Admittedly, some of their appliances leave a lot to be desired, but you know the good from the bad and can specify accordingly. I know the joiners like them because the carcasses are rigid, not flat-pack. All in all, I’d say they’re ok for the money. Alot of it depends on who installs it.
Dave (absolutely nothing to do with Howdens!)

That does concur with a lot of the online reviews, however an average rating of 2 out of a possible 5 from over 80 reviews on one review site alone doesn’t inspire confidence. 😉March 4, 2011 at 8:50 am #346138Martin

There’s a brand new housing development (10 dwellings) in a village near me. Howdens have installed the kitchens and put in their own intergrated washers in each (re-badged Candy m/c’s). So far I’ve been to 4 of them where their fitters have installed the drain outlet behind the built-in oven and not removed the blue stopper from the hose coupling!
They’ve also boxed in the condenser boilers behind kitchen carcasses where you cannot fully open the control panel as the bottom cross-piece is in the way. And finally the cooker hoods are non-vented ‘fog stirrers’.
So, not too impressive but I won’t hear a bad word about Howdens, oh no! 8)

Martin, once again, you’re talking about the quality of the (shocking) installations. I was just passing comment on the quality of the units themselves. If they’re installed by a proper joiner, then they’re no worse than most other mass-produced kitchen.

I sell kitchens and Howdens kitchens are made from the lowest quality raw materials. So for me they are poor quality for the money, and to be honest they are usually fitted by the builder who is not a kitchen fitter, which accounts for the poor installtion

With a 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} increase in turnover and £100m pre-tax profit announced yesterday they must be doing something right.
Sure better quality kitchens can be found but not everyone has a £20k budget. For my money they are the best of the bunch for the mass market and tend to offer the best customer service over the likes of B&Q, Magnet, Benchmarx etc. – most lines are available from stock.
Agree on the appliance quality re. Candy etc., although they do offer Bosch.
Remember they are a trade supplier, so as has been mentioned before, the kitchen is only as good as the installer.March 4, 2011 at 3:52 pm #346142DrDill

Not so, i sell british kitchens from a Welsh manufacturer which are far better quality and for about the same cost, so as i say overpriced for what they are.

I have to wonder how exactly you could possibly qualify that statement TBH? I’ve seen loads of Howdens kitchens in recent months and there’s nowt wrong with the units, they’re fine. The installers can be a caution, true!
Their WEB SITE is worth a visit and spells it out pretty well I reckon.

Who be they then?

I intend to do what my customers do, support a local firm who do not advertise but rely on recommendation. 😉
Although I do have the added advantage of seeing the standard of work from most of the competition as well.
The biggest hurdle is SWIMBO. :rolls: 😆
