Hi all
Have you tryed putting cbn5121 in a order then do a price enq for that order it now costs £9.37 where as if you just do a LIVE INFO check on part page it comes back as £20.

CBN5121 or Merloni 047317 Carbons. Maximum price anybody will pay from Homespare is £7.40 per pair. AND these are laminated brushes as per the genuine!!!

I don’t wish to put you on the spot by my enquiry and indeed please feel free to ignore this post if you so choose as I will not lose any sleep over it. But pray tell me your feelings please with regard to individual account holders discounts in relating to their respective purchasing levels from a wholesalers perspective?
Now, in the absence of any correspondence (whatsoever as far as I know?) from other spares wholesalers, I would like to hear from ‘your side of the fence’ as a leading wholesaler? It appears that many independants are more than a little concerned over the varying prices shown for many spare parts charged by wholesalers? Profound expressions such as ‘a level playing field’ or ”one price for all’ and even ‘rip off pricing’ have been voiced several times.
So many are citing examples of the extreme variation in prices that quite frankly I for one am getting a little p****d off in reading about! I would rather far better get an explanation from the likes of your good-self as to your position in the greater scheme of things. To at least put many readers minds at rest, so to speak.
Now having said that I believe I already know the answer as to why, however in order to put to rest any doubts others may have, perhaps you may enlighten us?

And therein lies the root of the problem… Sorry Alexa. The ethos is admirable, but where is the maintenance on a packet of Cornflakes? One off sale on a consumable is absolutely fine.
However, an appliance is sold with a warranty, because it is a durable – which is where we come in. 20 years ago, a decent machine cost £300. Had the value of the machine tracked with inflation to the present day, it would now cost £800!
So, what happened? Time has allowed technology to improve (cheapen) the production process, to the stage where the bottom of the range washer today can be bought for £160. This is a retail price, so the machine is being sold twice – manufacturer to Retailer, Retailer to Customer. Ain’t nobody makin a loss, but the margins may be down to a few quid. Paying to have it repaired may exceed the profit margin, so who’s going to get screwed………..? We are, of course. Parts value is fixed, even if minimalised, the only variable is the contract rate payable to the repairers. Given that the Work Provider is taking his cut for this work, we are at the bottom of the pile.

ParticipantI was strictly referring to the parts wholesalers who try to extract the most profit per part sold to the reseller.
There’s is a sale of consumables like cornflakes.
Sales is their business and repeat sales is their future.A trade only forum containing a chart that shows the cheapest common parts will help the independant trade to purchase at the best price.
Similarily a chart showing what different work providers pay will also negate their policy of divide and conquer.
Also a Public forum chart showing faulty brands
Personally I can’t save the world so I don’t care what crap they put on the market at what margins.
The best I can do to prevent the crap by informing consumers

I love the philosophical anaylsis gentlemen but does this answer the more down to earth question of wholesale spare parts pricing?
